Nitrate is a crucial nutrient in the natural nitrogen cycle. However, human activities have elevated nitrate levels in aquatic ecosystems beyond natural thresholds, posing risks to human health and the environment. In this work, ZnCl-doped mesoporous silica nanoparticles (ZnCl@MSN) were synthesized using a one-pot preparation method, leading to a streamlined process with reduced time and energy consumption.

The removal of phosphate from water is necessary to avoid eutrophication. In this work, a novel composite film of calcium silicate hydrate (CSH) immobilized within calcium cross-linked polyvinyl alcohol (CSH-PVA) was developed for efficient phosphate removal from water using a simple and environmentally friendly preparation method. The characterization showed that flake crystal-like CSH nanoparticles were immobilized on a PVA film (86-106 μm).

Fireproof coatings are the simplest, most efficient, and oldest method for protecting a wide range of flammable products, such as wood. Furthermore, surface ignition is the initial phase, so surface protection is essential to reduce fire propagation. Furthermore, delaying the spread of flames can help to save someone when a fire starts.

The accumulation of heavy metal ions in living cells leads to biological damage, which makes the necessity of using new methods to effectively remove heavy metal ions from the environment more vital. In this work, a magnetic modified biochar was prepared under regular air atmosphere and low temperature (220 ºC) and used as a low-cost and green adsorbent for efficient adsorptive removal of cobalt (Co(II)) and Lead (Pb(II)) ions from contaminated waters. The adsorption process was modeled and optimized using CCD-RSM to maximize the removal efficiency of heavy metal ions, as well as was monitored in detail by isotherm, kinetic, and thermodynamic studies.

The zinc sulfide/copper oxide-carbon nanotube nanocomposite (ZnS/CuO-CNT) was fabricated by using an in-situ hydrothermal synthesis method and was used for simultaneous ultrasound-assisted adsorptive removal of a binary mixture of ponceau 4R (P4R) and tartrazine (TA) acid food dyes from contaminated water. The as-synthesized ZnS/CuO-CNT was described by FESEM, XRD, FTIR, BET, and zeta potential analysis. The results included nested network morphology, high purity with the crystalline structure, oxygen-containing functional groups, mesoporous/micropores texture with cumulate interspace, specific surface area of 106.

Composite Fenton nanocatalyst was prepared by water-based in situ creation of FeO nanoparticles integrated within the self-assembly 3D reduced graphene oxide (rGO) aerogel. The hybrid applied for the degradation of Acid Green 25 (AG-25) organic dye in an aqueous solution, in the presence of HO. By investigating the conditions that maximize the dye adsorption by the 3D composite, it was found that the pH of the solution should be adjusted between the pKa of the functional groups present on the rGO surface (carboxylic acid) and that of the dye (sulfonic acid) to promote electrostatic interactions dye-3D structure.

In this research, the potentiality of magnetic tungsten disulfide/carbon nanotubes nanocomposite (WS/FeO/CNTs-NC) as an adsorbent for the ultrasound-assisted removal of amaranth (AM) and brilliant blue FCF (BB FCF) dyes was investigated. The experiments were conducted using a central composite design (CCD) with the inputs of solution pH (X: 2.0-10), adsorbent mass (X: 4-20 mg), AM concentration (X: 10-50 mg L), BB FCF concentration (X: 10-50 mg L), and sonication time (X: 2-12 min).

The increasing amount of organic dye-polluted wastewater from the textile industry makes the development of techniques for the efficient purification and reuse of wastewater an urgent issue. Accordingly, solid adsorbents based on three-dimensional (3D) reduced graphene oxide (rGO) aerogels combined with magnetic nanoparticles (rGO@FeO) appear to be potential materials, which offer fast and efficient discoloration of dye solutions by dye adsorption, simultaneously acting as Fenton reaction nanocatalysts, and thus may eliminate organic dyes. In this work, 3D rGO@FeO aerogel nanocatalysts were synthesized a low-energy, simple, one-step method, in which GO and FeSO·7HO were simultaneously reduced.
