The excessive presence of antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline (OTC) in the wastewater has increased health problems due to their toxic impact on the aquatic ecosystem. Therefore, their removal has become an important topic. This study aims to produce high surface area-activated carbon derived from low-cost and environmentally friendly barley lignocellulosic wastes to remove OTC from aqueous solutions.

Hence, this study synthesized aminated magnetic graphene oxide (mGO-NH) for the removal of mercury (Hg) from aqueous solutions. Although functionalized GO is an emerging technology at the early stages of development, its synthesis and application require special attention to the eco-environmental assessment.

The demand for copper is growing considerably in parallel with economic and technological development. The rate increase in copper consumption in Iran increases pressure on the numerous unexploited mines in southeast Iran and causes the environmental crisis alongside the northern Levar wind in this area. Given this, this study systematically explored the environmental impacts of a one-ton copper cathode processing operation from a cradle-to-gate perspective, using life cycle assessment (LCA).

The adsorption performance of m-GO-NH was apprized by considering the impact of the contact time (0-120 min), pH (2-9), adsorbent dose (5-40 mg), and adsorbate concentration (10-50 mg/L). The maximum Hg (II) and TNP removals (∼ 100%) were obtained using 30 mg adsorbent dose in 90 and 75 min, respectively.
