Cochlear Implantation: Small Cochlear Diameter May Indicate Degree of Abnormality.

Cochlear size variation was first reported in 1884, and since then, there have been various reports confirming the same. Yet, there is no single report that has displayed the wide variations in the cochlear size in a single layout capturing the cochlea in the oblique coronal view/ cochlear view. Basal turn diameter (A-value) was measured in the oblique coronal plane using the OTOPLAN® otological preplanning tool in 104 computed tomography (CT) scans of the temporal bones of cochlear implant (CI) recipients in a tertiary CI center.

Quality of Life and Symptoms Before and After Nasal Septoplasty With or Without Turbinoplasty Compared With Control Individuals in Saudi Arabia.

Objectives: Nasal septal deviation is a common health issue that can significantly impact the quality of life. Although nasal septoplasty is commonly performed in Otolaryngology practice, its effectiveness has been questioned. This was the first study to assess disease-specific quality of life in patients undergoing nasal septoplasty with or without turbinoplasty in Saudi Arabia.

Grisel's syndrome post otolaryngology procedures: A systematic review.

Objective: To increase awareness and the index of suspicion regarding Grisel's syndrome among otolaryngologists after otolaryngology procedures.

Method: We conducted a search of MEDLINE/PubMed for articles published through January 2020 utilizing the following terms: Grisel's syndrome, Grisel syndrome, and atlantoaxial subluxation alone and in combination with other terms like ENT, otolaryngology, head & neck, tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, adenotonsillectomy, mastoidectomy, tympanoplasty, and tympanomastoidectomy. We included English-language cases that occurred after surgical procedures and contained the following data: age, onset, common presenting symptoms, diagnostic approach, management options, and the presence of complications.

Correlates of memory loss and depression among myocardial infarction patients in Al-Qassim, Saudi Arabia.

Background: After myocardial infarction (MI), patients have an elevated risk for depression, which has a negative impact on morbidity and mortality for patients. As depression and memory function are associated, we examined them in the context of one another. Our objectives were to determine the proportion of patients with either depression only, memory loss only, or both depression and memory loss and to examine the correlates with each outcome.
