Article Synopsis
  • Paraganglioma of the urinary bladder (PUB) is an uncommon tumor that secretes catecholamines and represents a small fraction of bladder tumors and pheochromocytomas.
  • A case of a 37-year-old man showed symptoms like palpitations and headaches but no common urinary issues, leading to the discovery of a suspicious bladder mass through imaging.
  • The report highlights the necessity for doctors to consider PUB in patients with specific symptoms and stresses the importance of early diagnosis and surgical treatment for better patient outcomes.

Rationale And Objective: To assess the perceptions of radiology staff regarding the role of virtual reality technology in diagnostic radiology after using a virtual reality (VR) headset METHODS: Participants completed a pre-study questionnaire assessing their familiarity with VR technology and its potential role in radiology. Using a VR headset, participants entered a simulated reading room (SieVRt, Luxsonic Technologies) with three large virtual monitors. They were able to view plain radiographs, ultrasound, CT, and MRI images and pull up and compare multiple images simultaneously.

Large-cell undifferentiated carcinoma of the urinary bladder is an extremely rare and aggressive neoplasm. We present a unique case of painless gross hematuria and a past surgical history of cystolithotomy. The patient underwent transurethral resection of the bladder tumor, which revealed high-grade urothelial cell carcinoma with lamina propria involvement.

Liver cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide, and its early detection and treatment are crucial for improving morbidity and mortality. Biomarkers have the potential to facilitate the early diagnosis and management of liver cancer, but identifying and implementing effective biomarkers remains a major challenge. In recent years, artificial intelligence has emerged as a promising tool in the cancer sphere, and recent literature suggests that it is very promising in facilitating biomarker use in liver cancer.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the correlation between spectral wave analyses by measuring the resistive index and serum intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) concentration in primary hyperparathyroidism.

Subjects And Methods: From March 2008 to April 2012, 46 consecutively registered patients underwent color and spectral Doppler ultrasonography for determination of vascularity and vascular resistance of parathyroid adenoma. The color Doppler sonographic findings were compared with methoxyisobutylisonitrile (MIBI) scintigraphic findings, serum iPTH concentration, and the volume of the gland.

Background: Liver cirrhosis is defined as a chronic disease of the liver with destruction of the hepatic parenchymal cells. The aim of the current study was to investigate the correlation between sonographic portal vein diameter (PVD) as well as portal flow velocity (PFV) with the clinical scoring systems; CTP and MELD in cirrhotic patients.

Methods: In this cross sectional study, convenience sampling enrolled 108 patients, diagnosed with liver cirrhosis.

Introduction: Recently, minimally invasive parathyroidectomy (MIP) has been developed and is gaining popularity among surgeons. For this reason, preoperative localization is playing an important role to detect the precise location of the affected gland and to increase the success rate.

Material And Methods: From June 2007 to June 2011, 56 consecutive patients (11 men and 45 women) with primary or secondary hyperparathyroidism in our center underwent Gray scale, color Doppler and 99m-Tc MIBI scan prior to operative management of parathyroid lesions.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and imaging patterns of colour Doppler ultrasonography (US) and compare it with grayscale US, 99m-Tc methoxyisobutylisonitrile (MIBI) scans, and combined US and MIBI scans in the preoperative diagnosis of parathyroid adenomas in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT). From June 2007 to June 2011, 36 consecutive patients (seven men and 29 women) with pHPT underwent grayscale US, colour Doppler ultrasonography (CDUS), and 99m-Tc MIBI scans prior to parathyroidectomy with traditional unilateral neck dissection. All 36 patients with pHPT underwent parathyroidectomy at our university hospital.

Objectives: Cataracts are the most common cause of blindness worldwide, with cataract surgery being the most common ophthalmic procedure. To our best knowledge, this is the first case-control study with a large number of participants to evaluate ocular blood flow in patients with cataracts.

Materials And Methods: Color Doppler and duplex sonography of the orbital vessels was performed in 224 eyes of 112 patients with known bilateral age-related cataracts and in 76 eyes of 38 healthy age- and sex-matched volunteers.
