Macroscopic Hydatiduria: An Uncommon Pathognomonic Presentation of Renal Hydatid Disease.

Isolated renal hydatid disease is a rare endemic infestation caused by larval form of Echinococcus granulosus. Hydatiduria is an uncommon presentation of renal hydatid disease. In 2012 a 34-year-old female referred to Razi Hospital, Rasht, Iran with complaints of right flank pain and grape-like material in urine.

Focal neuropathies following percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL)--preliminary study.

Introduction: Postoperative neurological complications in pelvic and renal surgery are a well-known clinical problem and their morbidities are important. We designed this study to determine prevalence and risk factors of such complications after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) surgery.

Material And Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed during February and July 2011 on 68 PCNL cases.

Laparoscopic transperitoneal ureterolithotomy: a single-center experience.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate success and complications of laparoscopic transperitoneal ureterolithotomy at our center.

Patients And Methods: From November 2008 until September 2011, 33 patients, including 22 men and 11 women, with a mean age of 45.3 years (range, 19-67 years), underwent laparoscopic ureterolithotomy at our center.

Randomized controlled trial of the efficacy of isosorbide-SR addition to current treatment in medical expulsive therapy for ureteral calculi.

It has been suggested that nitrates are potent smooth muscle relaxants that may reduce pain and facilitate ureteral stone passage; therefore it may be an option for medical expulsive therapy in ureteral stones. In a prospective randomized controlled clinical trial, we evaluated the efficacy of medical expulsive therapy with isosorbide-SR 40 mg in patients with ureteral stones (≤10 mm). The patients with ureteral stones in KUB or urinary tract ultrasonography were randomized to receive methylprednisolone plus celecoxib without (control group), and with isosorbide-SR 40 mg (treatment group) for 21 days.

Celecoxib for treatment of nocturia caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia: a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.

Objectives: Nocturia is a well-recognized symptom of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which is commonly treated by alpha(1)-blockers and/or 5alpha-reductase inhibitors. However, the effectiveness of these drugs for nocturia has been reported to be only 25%-39%. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of celecoxib, a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor, in the treatment of patients with BPH complaining of nocturia.

Comparison of prevalence of varicocele in first-degree relatives of patients with varicocele and male kidney donors.

Objectives: To evaluate hereditary behavior of varicocele through comparison of prevalence of disease in first-degree relatives of patients with known varicocele and normal healthy kidney donation volunteers.

Methods: Sixty-two patients with known varicocele who admitted for surgery in Razi Hospital between September 2005 and October 2006 were enrolled in the study. The patients were asked to refer for examination healthy available first-degree relatives (n = 88).
