Background: Seizures, including status epilepticus (SE), are common in anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis (NMDARE). We aimed to describe clinical and electrographic features of patients with seizures with NMDARE, determine factors associated with SE, and describe long-term seizure outcomes.
Methods: We retrospectively identified patients with seizures in the setting of NMDARE treated at inpatient Mayo Clinic sites during the acute phase of encephalitis between October 2008 and March 2023.
Cancer is a therapeutically challenging and genomically complicated disease. Pioneering studies have uncovered multifaceted aspects of cancer, ranging from intra- and inter-tumor heterogeneity, drug resistance, and genetic/epigenetic mutations. Loss of apoptosis is another critical aspect that makes cancer cells resistant to death.

While various predictors of back pain chronicity have been proposed, including demographic and psychosocial factors, neuroimaging studies have pointed to brain characteristics as predictors of CBP. However, large-scale, multisite validation of these predictors is currently lacking.

Objective: To evaluate if postnatal treatment with betamethasone in extremely preterm infants was associated with neurodevelopmental impairment (NDI) at 6.5 years of age.
Design: Prospective cohort study.
The term chondrosarcoma refers to a rare and heterogeneous group of malignant cartilaginous tumors that are typically resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Metastatic chondrosarcoma has a poor prognosis, and effective systemic therapies are lacking. Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutations represent a potential therapeutic target, but IDH inhibitors alone have shown limited clinical efficacy to date.

Acute cholecystitis during pregnancy presents significant risks, requiring careful management to balance maternal and fetal health. Conflicting viewpoints exist on conservative versus surgical treatment, particularly in the third trimester. Here, we present a case of a woman in her early 40s at 34 weeks of gestational age with acute cholecystitis and signs of preterm labour.

Preliminary evidence in breast cancer suggests that a low AAPR correlates with a poor response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in primary tumors. However, data regarding the axillary response are lacking.

Methods: A literature search was undertaken to identify important considerations. A working group of key stakeholders was formed to design a triage system and service pathway.
Aim: To evaluate if increased survival and new ventilation strategies were accompanied by a changed incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in Sweden over a decade.
Methods: Data from two Swedish population-based studies of live-born infants with gestational ages (GA) 22-26 weeks, born during 2004-2007 (n=702) and 2014-2016 (n=885), were compared for survival, any BPD, moderate BPD, severe BPD, and BPD/severe BPD or death at 36 weeks postmenstrual age (PMA). Ventilation strategies and interventions were analysed.
Cytochrome b5 is a small electron transport protein that is found in animals, plants, fungi and photosynthetic proteobacteria where it plays key metabolic roles in energy production, lipid and sterol biosynthesis and cytochrome P450 biochemistry. Previously it was shown that a gene encoding a soluble and functional cytochrome b5 protein was encoded in the large double stranded DNA virus OtV2 that infects the unicellular marine green alga , the smallest free-living eukaryote described to-date. This single gene represented a unique finding in the virosphere.

However, the discovery of gene fusions in different cancers has opened new horizons to comprehensively investigate how cell type-specific fusion oncoproteins modulate signaling cascades. Prostate cancer (PCa) is a multifaceted and therapeutically challenging disease, and functional genomics have helped us develop a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying prostate carcinogenesis, castration-resistant PCa, and metastasis.

Using Landsat satellite datasets, this study investigated the complex interplay between urban Land Cover (LC) modification, fluctuation in Land Surface Temperature (LST) and severity of Urban Heat Island (UHI) from 1990 to 2020 in Peshawar City, Pakistan. Thermal bands were used to calculate LST and severity of UHI using the Urban Thermal Field Variance Index (UTFVI).

Osteoarthritis impacts a significant number of the population and requires the development of repair and tissue engineering methods for hyaline articular cartilage.

Methods: Population-based data covering Swedish live births from 22 + 0 to 26 + 6 weeks of gestation during 2004-2007 and 2014-2016 were analysed for associations between time-period, birth within (inborn) or outside (outborn) regional centres, and outcomes.
Results: Among 1626 liveborn infants, 703 were born in 2004-2007 and 923 in 2014-2016.
Background And Purpose: As patients with advanced melanoma live longer in the context of systemic therapy advancements, better strategies for durable control of bulky tumors are needed. In this study, we evaluated if dose-escalated hypofractionated radiation therapy (HFRT) can provide durable local control and improve tumor-associated symptoms in patients with unresectable or bulky metastatic melanoma for whom stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (RT) approaches are not feasible due to tumor size or location.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 49 patients with unresectable or bulky metastatic melanoma who were treated to a total of 53 tumor targets with 12-17 fractions HFRT at our institution between 2015-2022.
Quiescence is a reversible cell cycle exit traditionally thought to be associated with a metabolically inactive state. Recent work in muscle cells indicates that metabolic reprogramming is associated with quiescence. Whether metabolic changes occur in cancer to drive quiescence is unclear.

Additionally, it explores the potential mediating role of willingness to take risks and creative self-efficacy in the association between perceived HPWS and bootlegging behavior. In addition, this study examines how human resource management (HRM) system strength acts as a cross-level moderator in the connection between perceived HPWS and willingness to take risks and creative self-efficacy.
