Background: Despite the presence of evidence that establishes a strong correlation between oxidative stress and thyroid cancer, there exists a scarcity of research that investigates the specific role of glutathione as an important antioxidant in this particular context. The objective of this study was to assess the altered balance of oxidative stress in cases of thyroid cancer, which includes both papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and micro PTC (mPTC), by examining and comparing the total antioxidant capacity (TAC), total oxidant status (TOS), oxidative stress index (OSI), reduced glutathione (GSH), oxidized glutathione (GSSG), and GSSG/GSH ratio with those of individuals diagnosed with multinodular goiter (MNG) as well as Healthy subjects.

Astrocytes, also known as astroglia, are important cells for the structural support of neurons as well as for biochemical balance in the central nervous system (CNS). In this study, the polymerization of dopamine (DA) to polydopamine (PDA) and its effect on astrocytes was investigated. The polymerization of DA, being directly proportional to the DA concentration, raises the prospect of detecting DA concentration from PDA optically using image-processing techniques.

Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is the leading cause of epilepsy-related mortality and its pathophysiological mechanisms remain unknown. We set to record and analyze for the first time concurrent electroencephalographic (EEG), electrocardiographic (ECG), and unrestrained whole-body plethysmographic (Pleth) signals from control (WT - wild type) and SUDEP-prone mice (KO- knockout Kcna1 animal model). Employing multivariate autoregressive models (MVAR) we measured all tri-organ effective directional interactions by the generalized partial directed coherence (GPDC) in the frequency domain over time (hours).

A novel sustained release carrier of graphene oxide nanosheets functionalized by human serum albumin nanoparticles (FGO-NSs) was synthesized and characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), zeta sizer analysis, absorption spectroscopy (UV-vis) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) studies. The cell viability of GO-NSs, HSA-NPs and FGO-NSs has been tested against human foreskin fibroblast normal cell line, HFFF2 by MTT assay technique. Loading efficiency and release properties of oxaliplatin (OX), as an effective chemotherapeutic agent in the treatment of cancers, from HSA-NPs and FGO-NSs were studied.
