Context: While photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising treatment for peritoneal carcinomatosis, its use is often limited because of the toxicity of photosensitizers. In this study, safety of PDT with hexaminoevulinate (HAL), a second generation photosensitizer, is assessed.
Methods: PDT of the peritoneal cavity was performed in a rat model of peritoneal carcinomatosis.
Adenoid basal hyperplasia is an underrecognized cervical lesion, resembling adenoid basal carcinoma, except the absence of deep invasion into the stroma. We report a series of 10 cases, all extending less than 1 mm from the basement membrane. Our results support the hypothesis that adenoid basal hyperplasia arises from reserve cells of the cervix.

However, definite fetal valve replacements require growing implants adaptive to fetal and postnatal development. The presented study investigates the fetal implantation of prenatally engineered living autologous cell-based heart valves.

Patients And Method: We are presenting a retrospective study of eight APA cases.
Results: Two patients immediately received radical treatment, and one patient had an endometrial thermocoagulation.
Objective: This experimental study aimed to compare three illumination schemes to optimize hexaminolaevulinate (HAL)-PDT in a rat tumor model with advanced ovarian cancer.
Materials And Methods: Peritoneal carcinomatosis was induced by intraperitoneal 5×10(6)NuTu-19 cells injection in 60 female rats Fisher 344. Carcinomatosis was obtained 50 days post-tumor induction.
Objectives: Twenty-two uterine carcinosarcomas were treated and followed in two centers over 10 years. We wanted to describe them and review the literature on the subject.
Patients And Methods: We describe all uterine carcinosarcomas treated in Lille, over 10 years, both in department of gynecology, Hospital Jeanne-de-Flandre (11 patients), and in department of gynecologic oncology of Centre Oscar-Lambret (11 patients).

Background: Among the numerous osteotomies for correction of hallux valgus, the modified chevron is known for its good intrinsic stability and the scarf for its large corrective potential. An intermediate design, the reversed-L osteotomy, has been developed to combine these competing biomechanical objectives. The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the structural and local biomechanical performance of these three designs.

However, the presence of fat is not pathognomonic for dermoid cyst, and it may also be identified in immature teratomas, whose prognosis and treatment are different. Some imaging features are helpful to differentiate between both tumors, including th epresence of enhancement on CT and MRI.

The micelle building block, termed peptide amphiphile, consists of a lipid-like chain covalently linked through a spacer to a peptide headgroup. Self-assembly results in formation of a hydrophobic core surrounded by a dense shell with multiple, functional peptides.

In order to diagnose and localize squamous intraepithelial lesion (SIL) of the cervix, a new method improving the low specificity of colposcopy would be useful. The goal of this study was to assess the feasibility and safety of colposcopic fluorescence diagnosis of SIL after topically application of methyl aminolevulinate (MAL).

Objective: This experimental study aimed to compare continuous and fractionated illumination to optimize hexaminolaevulinate (HAL)-photodynamic therapy (PDT) in a rat tumour model with advanced ovarian cancer.
Materials And Methods: Intraperitoneal 10(6) Nu Tu-19 cells were injected in 36 female rats Fisher 344. Peritoneal carcinomatosis was obtained 26 days post-tumour induction.
Objective: Accurate dosimetry was shown to be critical to achieve effective photodynamic therapy (PDT). This study aimed to assess the reliability of in vivo protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) fluorescence photobleaching as a predictive tool of the hexaminolevulinate PDT (HAL-PDT) response in a rat model of advanced ovarian cancer.
Materials And Methods: Intraperitoneal 10(6) NuTu 19 cells were injected in 26 female rats Fisher 344.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate aminolevulinic acid-photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) in an experimental tumor model to expand the use of PDT in the treatment of ovarian cancer with peritoneal carcinosis.
Materials And Methods: 5-Aminolevulinic acid (ALA) (Photocure ASA, Norway) 60mg/kg was injected in the peritoneum cavity of 45 female rats Fisher with induced peritoneal metastases of ovarian cancer. ALA-PDT was performed 4h later with two different lasers: (1) laser diode (Diomed, Cambridge, UK), at 630nm, 100mW/cm(2), or (2) KTP laser (Laser Quantum, Stockport, UK), 532nm, 30mW/cm(2).
MALDI imaging mass spectrometry represents a new analytical tool to directly provide the spatial distribution and relative abundance of proteins in tissue. Twenty-five ovary carcinomas (stages III and IV) and 23 benign ovaries were directly analyzed using MALDI-TOF MS. The biomarker with the major prevalence (80%) has been fully identified using MALDI MS and nanoESI MS and MS/MS after separation by RP-HPLC and trypsin enzymatic digestion.

Methods: ALA or He-ALA (100 mg/kg) was injected into the peritoneal cavity of 16 rats with induced peritoneal metastases of ovarian cancer. Two hours later, the tumors were visualized laparoscopically using both white light for standard exploration and blue light for fluorescence.

Unlabelled: The potential of fluorescence diagnosis (FD) is still undeveloped in gynaecology. In order to diagnose and localize squamous intraepithelial lesion (SIL) of the cervix, a new method improving the low specificity of colposcopy, would be useful.
Objective: The goal of this study was to assess the feasability and safety of colposcopic FD of SIL after topicaly application of methyl aminolevulinate (MAL).
The goal of this study was to assess the interest of photodynamic diagnosis (PDD) for laparoscopic detection of peritoneal micro metastasis in ovarian carcinoma. Using an experimental animal model, intraperitoneal injection of aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and hexylester of aminolevulinic acid (He-ALA) were compared in order to improve laparoscopic detection of ovarian peritoneal carcinomatosis. Twenty-one 344 Fischer female rats received an intra peritoneal injection of 106 NuTu-19 cells.

There were invasive microfoci in peritoneum and lymph node micrometastasis as well as a small superficial non invasive tumor focus in the left ovary. Diagnosis was based on morphological, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural features of tumor tissue.
