Effect of Microwave Heating on the Crystallization of Glutathione Tripeptide on Silver Nanoparticle Films.

Effect of microwave heating on the crystallization of glutathione (GSH) tripeptide using the metal-assisted and microwave-accelerated evaporative crystallization (MA-MAEC) technique is reported. GSH crystals were grown from supersaturated solutions of GSH (300-500 mg/mL) on the iCrystal plates with silver nanoparticle films (SNFs) and without SNFs in three different microwave systems operating at 2.45 GHz: conventional (multimode, fixed power at 900W), industrial (monomode, variable power up to 1200 W), and the iCrystal system (monomode, variable power up to 100 W).

Interobserver variability in HER-2/neu reporting on immunohistochemistry in breast carcinomas.

Objective: To evaluate human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2/neu) interobserver variability between specially trained and untrained general histopathologists.

Methods: The retrospective study cases of invasive breast carcinoma received at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, from June 2010 to December 2011, for assessment of HER2/neu status by immunohistochemistry which were retrieved from the files and, 30 consecutive cases each of score 0, 1+, 2+ and 3+ were selected for a total of 120 cases. Two groups of two histopathologists each examined the cases blindly.

Does the introduction of new technology change population demographics? Minimally invasive technologies and endometrial polyps.

Objective: To determine if the characteristics of women with endometrial polyps changed as minimally invasive modalities for diagnosis and surgical treatment were integrated to our clinical practice.

Materials And Methods: The pathologic reports of all women diagnosed with endometrial polyps in 1990 (220 patients) and 1996 (386 patients) were reviewed. The respective medical records were reviewed for anthropomorphic factors, bleeding pattern, diagnosis, and modality of surgical removal.
