Is emotional intelligence linked with academic achievement? The first TEIQue-SF study in a sample of Saudi medical rehabilitation students.

Objective: The present study examined the relationship of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Short Form (TEIQue-SF) and academic achievement (GPA). Analyses were performed using a sample of Saudi-origin medical rehabilitation undergraduate students ( = 130). The present study examined the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Short Form (TEIQue-SF).

ASSOCIATION OF PLASMA HOMOCYSTEINE AND WHITE MATTER HYPODENSITIES IN A SAMPLE OF STROKE PATIENTS.

Background: Studies of homocysteine in vascular disorders have yielded conflicting data. There are also differences based on various ethnicities and cultures. In this study, we have examined the homocysteine patterns in local stroke patients, so as to ascertain the homocysteine status in a sample of local population.

Correlation of CRP levels in third trimester with fetal birth weight in preeclamptic and normotensive pregnant women.

Objective: To evaluate the levels of C-reactive protein, an inflammatory marker in preeclamptic and normotensive pregnant women and to determine its correlation with fetal birth weight.

Study Design: Cross-sectional analytical study.

Place And Duration Of Study: Unit of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Shaikh Zayed Hospital and Gynaecological Unit II of Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, from December 2011 to May 2012.

TNF-alpha: a risk factor for ischemic stroke.

Background: Inflammatory markers are being explored to aid in stroke diagnosis especially, to differentiate between clinical varieties of stroke. This study aimed to compare plasma tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and Interleukin-10 (IL-10) levels between stroke patients and controls, as well as between hemorrhagic and ischemic varieties of stroke.

Methods: Stroke patients who were admitted to Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore and Services Hospital Lahore, Pakistan within 24 hours after the onset of stroke symptoms were consecutively asked to participate in this study from June 2011 to December 2011.

Plasma homocysteine in patients of migraine without aura.

Background: Few studies have studied the role of homocysteine in migraineurs and have produced conflicting results. The MTHFR C677T genotype has been associated with increased risk of migraine in selected clinical samples. We assessed the association of the MTHFR C677T variant with migraine, the corresponding homocysteine levels and their correlation.
