In the current work, electrostatic interactions were used to immobilize the horseradish peroxidase (HRP) onto five types of ceramic materials (C) with different concentrations of oxidized metals (C1-C5). The highest immobilization efficiency (70 and 77%) was detected at 6 mg C3 and 18 enzyme units. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis of C3-HRP confirmed the immobilization of the enzyme.

The possibility of reusing ceramic roller waste to produce cordierite and mullite refractories was investigated. This study aimed to prepare a combined self-nanoemulsifying and self-assembled cubic nanoparticles (SNE/SAC) lyophilized tablet eliciting biphasic release pattern escorted with enhanced bioavailability for drugs hampered with slow dissolution and poor absorption. The antimuscarinic Darifenacin hydrobromide (DRF) was selected as a model drug used to treat overactive bladder-associated nocturia. The DRF-SNE/SAC lyophilized tablet was prepared so that upon reconstitution a mixture of DRF-loaded cubic nanoparticles and nanoemulsion dispersion is obtained.

Unlabelled: Neuronal hyperexcitability is a hallmark of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) but its relationship with the TDP-43 aggregates that comprise the predominant pathology in over 90% of ALS cases remains unclear. Emerging evidence in tissue and slice culture models indicate that TDP-43 pathology induces neuronal hyperexcitability suggesting it may be responsible for the excitotoxicity long believed to be a major driver of ALS neuron death. Here, we characterized hyperexcitability and neurodegeneration in the hippocampus of doxycycline-regulatable rNLS8 mice (NEFH-tTA x tetO-hTDP-43ΔNLS), followed by treatment with AAV encoded DREADDs and anti-seizure medications to measure the effect on behavioral function and neurodegeneration.
