Two equal groups (A&B) of patients were randomly separated. For group (A), the tragal cartilage implants were used to enhance the vocal folds; for group (B), fascia lata implants were utilized.

PCR testing is the ideal method for identification of the infecting spp. The present study documented the epidemiologic characteristics of molecularly confirmed cases of imported malaria in Kuwait during the first year of COVID-19 pandemic.

Synthesis, DFT Calculations, and Biological Studies of New 2-Cyano-3-(Naphthalene-1-yl) Acryloyl Amide Analogues as Anticancer Agents.

A set of novel naphthalene derivatives was synthesized via investment of the electrophilic reaction center of the easily obtainable starting substance, 2-cyano-3-(naphthalen-1-yl)acryloyl chloride (1), with various nitrogen nucleophiles and assessed as potential antitumor agents. The chemical structures of these derivatives were completely specified using several spectral and elemental analyses. The antiproliferative efficacy of the discovered compounds against the human cancer cell lines HepG2 and MCF-7 was investigated.

In this study, silver phosphate (AgPO) nanoparticles and novel AgPO/graphene/SiO nanocomposite have been successfully prepared via simple precipitation method.

Enhancing salt stress tolerance in wheat (Triticum aestivum) seedlings: insights from trehalose and mannitol.

Salinity stress, an ever-present challenge in agriculture and environmental sciences, poses a formidable hurdle for plant growth and productivity in saline-prone regions worldwide. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the effectiveness of trehalose and mannitol induce salt resistance in wheat seedlings. Wheat grains of the commercial variety Sakha 94 were divided into three groups : a group that was pre-soaked in 10 mM trehalose, another group was soaked in 10 mM mannitol, and the last was soaked in distilled water for 1 hour, then the pre soaked grains cultivated in sandy soil, each treatment was divided into two groups, one of which was irrigated with 150 mM NaCl and the other was irrigated with tap water.

Language profile of children with cochlear implants: comparative study about the effect of age of cochlear implantation and the duration of rehabilitation.

Purpose: The analysis of different language domains and exploration of variables that affect the outcomes of cochlear implantation would help to document the efficacy of cochlear implantation and intervention programs. The aim of this work was to examine the language profile of children with Cochlear Implants (CI) and to assess the effect of age at the time of cochlear implantation and the impact of duration of rehabilitation on the development of linguistic abilities for cochlear implanted children.

Methods: The study was conducted on 46 Arabic speaking children using unilateral CI who are receiving regular post-cochlear auditory and language rehabilitation in the phoniatrics unit, Kasr Alaini hospital.

Utilization of palm residues for biochar production using continuous flow pyrolysis unit.

Biochar is a carbonaceous solid substance produced by heating biomass without using air. This research aimed to create and evaluate local carbonization pyrolysis using a screw conveyor and filtration equipment. Date palm frond (DPF) biochar was studied and tested at pyrolysis temperatures of 320, 390, and 460 °C, as well as feeding rates of 60, 90, and 120 kg/h.

Background: Stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) being highly heterogeneous requires multimodal therapeutic strategies for optimal management. We present findings on treatment patterns and their associated survival outcomes in patients with stage III NSCLC from the Egypt subset of the KINDLE global real-world study conducted across countries from Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

Method: Retrospective data from the Egypt subset (21 centers) of adult patients diagnosed with stage III NSCLC between January 2013 and December 2017 were analyzed.

This study aimed to determine the association between PFS and preschoolers' F&V consumption, as influenced by socioeconomic factors. A nationwide cross-sectional study was conducted among 1418 mothers of children aged 3-5 years in Saudi Arabia.

Phonological awareness training and phonological therapy approaches for specific language impairment children with speech sound disorders: a comparative outcome study.

Purpose: Children with specific language impairment (SLI) might present with speech sound disorder (SSD) and phonological awareness (PA) deficits which put them at risk of potential reading problems. This work aimed to organize an intervention program in Arabic for phonological training and to assess the effect of PA training versus the phonological therapy (PT) for children with SLI and SSD.

Methods: The study was carried out on 60 children with comorbid SLI and SSD, aged 5-7 years.

Management Practices of Bovine Mastitis and Milk Quality on Egyptian Dairies.

Milk production continues to be the main source of income for dairy producers, and mastitis continues to be the major health challenge for dairy cows worldwide. The objective of the current study was to describe the different management practices implemented in Egyptian dairies, which may influence mastitis and improve milk quality. An in-person survey was completed with herd managers and owners of 20 Egyptian dairies selected using a stratified random sample from four of Egypt's milk sheds.

Ultrasounds assisted one-pot oxidative desulfurization of model fuel using green synthesized aluminum terephthalate [MIL-53(Al)].

Oxidative desulfurization (ODS) is considered to be one of the most promising desulfurization processes as it is energy-efficient and requires mild operating conditions. In this study, a novel green synthesized Al- based metal-organic framework with high surface area has been synthesized hydrothermally using waste polyethylene terephthalate bottles (PET) as a source of terephthalic acid as an organic linker. The prepared Al based MOF have been characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

Self-perception of Voice Handicap in COVID 19 Patients.

Voice abnormalities were reported in patients during the course of COVID-19 infection. This study aims to evaluate the effect of COVID 19 infection on the self-perception of voice handicap in positive COVID 19 patients in addition to investigating the factors that might correlate with voice handicap if present. Voice handicap index-10 was filled in by 200 patients that were confirmed to be COVID 19 positive based on the RT-qPCR and symptomatology of the disease.

The Context And Purpose Of The Study: To look at the long-term effects of sleeve gastrectomy on hormonal profiles, sperm parameters, and sexual function in infertile men with severe obesity. This prospective study included fifty-four obese patients with primary or secondary infertility who were scheduled for sleeve gastrectomy between February 2018 and March 2021.

Purpose: Adenoidectomy, either alone or with tonsillectomy, is a common surgical procedure in the field of pediatric otorhinolaryngology. Resonance function may be altered postoperatively in the form of hypernasality, which is usually transient. This study aimed to investigate the effect of adenoid size on post-adenoidectomy hypernasality in children with a normal palate.

Engulfment Avalanches and Thermal Hysteresis for Antifreeze Proteins on Supercooled Ice.

Antifreeze proteins (AFPs) bind to the ice-water surface and prevent ice growth at temperatures below 0 °C through a Gibbs-Thomson effect. Each adsorbed AFP creates a metastable depression on the surface that locally resists ice growth, until ice engulfs the AFP. We recently predicted the susceptibility to engulfment as a function of AFP size, distance between AFPs, and supercooling [ 2023, 158, 094501].

Prevalence and predictors of undiagnosed type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes among adult Egyptians: a community-based survey.

Background: The global prevalence of abnormal glycemic level comprising diabetes mellitus (DM) and pre-diabetes (PDM) is rapidly increasing with special concern for the entity silent or undiagnosed diabetes; those unaware of their condition. Identification of people at risk became much easier with the use of risk charts than the traditional methods. The current study aimed to conduct a community-based screening for T2DM to estimate the prevalence of undiagnosed DM and to assess the AUSDRISK Arabic version as a predictive tool in an Egyptian context.

Free energy barriers for anti-freeze protein engulfment in ice: Effects of supercooling, footprint size, and spatial separation.

Anti-freeze proteins (AFPs) protect organisms at freezing conditions by attaching to the ice surface and arresting its growth. Each adsorbed AFP locally pins the ice surface, resulting in a metastable dimple for which the interfacial forces counteract the driving force for growth. As supercooling increases, these metastable dimples become deeper, until metastability is lost in an engulfment event where the ice irreversibly swallows the AFP.
