Uncontrolled degradation and collapse of stalled replication forks (RFs) are primary sources of genomic instability, yet the molecular mechanisms for protecting forks from degradation/collapse remain to be fully elaborated. Here, we show that polynucleotide kinase-phosphatase (PNKP) localizes at stalled forks and protects stalled forks from excessive degradation. The loss of PNKP results in nucleolytic degradation of nascent DNA at stalled RFs.

We present a rare case report of a patient with a congenital uterine anomaly - uterus didelphys. Who spontaneously became pregnant and completed the pregnancy successfully after peripartum hysterectomy of one uterus. The reason for the peripartum hysterectomy was a life-threatening hemorrhage with hemoperitoneum after cesarean delivery.

DNA damage has been implicated in the stimulation of the type 1 interferon (T1IFN) response. Here, we show that downregulation of the DNA repair protein, polynucleotide kinase/phosphatase (PNKP), in a variety of cell lines causes robust phosphorylation of STAT1, upregulation of interferon-stimulated genes and persistent accumulation of cytosolic DNA, all of which are indicators for the activation of the T1IFN response. Furthermore, this did not require damage induction by ionizing radiation.

Introduction: This was a single-center pilot study that sought to describe an innovative use of 4DryField® PH (premix) for preventing the recurrence of intrauterine adhesions (IUAs) after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis in patients with Asherman's syndrome (AS).

Background: Emerging evidence has shown racial and ethnic disparities in rates of harm for hospitalised children. Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the appropriate surgical treatment of adenomyosis and its impact on reproductive outcomes.

Conclusion: Patients with adenomyosis and fibroids may show a lower pregnancy rate and higher miscarriage rate than healthy individuals. However, there is no standard protocol for their optimal treatment, particularly in pregnancy-seeking or infertile women.

Racism- a system operating at the intrapersonal, interpersonal, institutional, and structural levels- is a serious threat to the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents. This narrative review highlights racism as a social determinant of health, and describes how racism breeds disparate pediatric health outcomes in infant health, asthma, Type 1 diabetes, mental health, and pediatric surgical conditions. Key examples include the association of residential racial segregation and the alarming infant mortality rate among Black infants as well as the role of redlining and discriminatory housing practices on asthma morbidity among Black children and adolescents.

There are multiple classifications in imaging and surgery of endometriosis and in this article, we offer a review of the main evaluation systems. The International Deep Endometriosis Analysis group consensus is the leading document for ultrasound assessment, while magnetic resonance imaging is guided by the European Society for Urogenital Radiology recommendations on technical protocol. In surgery, the revised American Society for Reproductive Medicine classification is the oldest system, ideally combined with newer classifications, such as Enzian or Endometriosis Fertility Index.

Introduction: This study was designed to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of hysteroscopy in the management of symptoms related to endometrial polyps and submucous leiomyomas in women using a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS).

Material And Methods: Twenty-three LNG-IUS users presenting with endometrial polyps and/or submucous leiomyomas and irregular uterine bleeding were recruited for hysteroscopic examination and surgery.
