: This study investigates which demographic, clinical and pathological factors of women with early-stage presurgical EC could be considered risk factors for the presence of different subtypes of metastases in sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs). : This is a retrospective single-center study that collected data between December 2015 and April 2024. EC patients who underwent total hysterectomy with salpingo-oophorectomy and SLN mapping with indocyanine green (ICG) were recorded.

Design: Prospective, single-arm, multicenter, clinical trial.
Setting: Multicenter University Hospital.
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading tumor worldwide. In CRC, the angiogenic pathway plays a crucial role in cancer development and the process of metastasis. Thus, anti-angiogenic drugs represent a milestone for metastatic CRC (mCRC) treatment and lead to significant improvement of clinical outcomes.

The aim of this study was to analyze, at the immunohistochemical level, the expression of L1CAM in the human tongue, parotid glands, and the different segments of the gastrointestinal tract during human development.
Design And Method: Immunohistochemical analysis for L1CAM was performed in the human tongue, parotid glands, and in the different segments of the gastrointestinal tract during development, starting from the 8th up to the 32nd week of gestation.

Purpose: To evaluate and compare the long-term results after bilateral implantation of different multifocal intraocular lenses (MIOLs).
Methods: This retrospective comparative study included 42 patients who underwent cataract surgery with bilateral MIOL implantation. Patients were divided into 5 groups: Group 1 received a refractive ReZoom NGX1 IOL (AMO), Group 2 a diffractive Acrysof ReSTOR SA60D3 IOL (Alcon), and Group 3 a diffractive Tecnis ZM900 IOL (AMO).
Age is a non-modifiable cardiovascular risk factor, which leads to development and progression of chronic conditions, such as coronary artery disease, by promoting atherosclerosis. Aging is responsible for morphological structure changes of the coronary arteries and specific atherosclerotic plaque features, which can be studied with non-invasive coronary imaging techniques, particularly coronary CT angiography. The aim of this review is to evaluate current knowledge on this technique applied to the elderly population, and to describe CAD manifestation and plaque features of coronary atherosclerosis in this particular set of patients.

Unfortunately, a patient's subgroup did not benefit from immunotherapy. Caudal-related homeobox transcription factor 2 (CDX-2) would seem to influence immunotherapy's sensitivity, promoting the chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 14 (CXCL14) expression.

These tumors have not been studied in the context of the International Endocervical Adenocarcinoma Criteria and Classification (IECC) or Silva Pattern Classification. We analyzed 31 cases that met strict diagnostic criteria, including being completely excised with negative margins.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLow-grade stage I endometrioid endometrial carcinomas should have an excellent prognosis, but a small subset of these cancers can relapse. The search for putative immunohistochemical prognostic markers for relapse in low-risk/low-grade endometrioid endometrial cancers remains open. Among the candidate molecules that may implicate the roles of immunohistochemical risk markers, we focused our attention on human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) after a review of the literature.

Method And Materials: We analyzed the genetic and phenotypic characteristics of HLA-G in 205 type 1 AIH patients (AIH-1) and a population of 210 healthy controls from Sardinia (Italy).
Results: Analysis of the HLA-G locus showed no substantial differences in allele frequencies between patients and the healthy control population.
Background: A complex sequence of morphogenetic events leads to the development of the adult mouse kidney. In the present study, we investigated the morphological events that characterize the early stages of the mesenchymal-to-epithelial transition of cap mesenchymal cells, analyzing in depth the relationship between cap mesenchymal induction and ureteric bud (UB) branching.
Design And Methods: Normal kidneys of newborn non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice were excised and prepared for light and electron microscopic examination.
As of September 18th, 2021, global casualties due to COVID-19 infections approach 200 million, several COVID-19 vaccines have been authorized to prevent COVID-19 infection and help mitigate the spread of the virus. Despite the vast majority having safely received vaccination against SARS-COV-2, the rare complications following COVID-19 vaccination have often been life-threatening or fatal. The mechanisms underlying (multi) organ complications are associated with COVID-19, either through direct viral damage or from host immune response (i.

While recent studies have focused on gastric-type endocervical adenocarcinoma (GTA), little is known about CCC. A total of 58 (CCCs) were collected from 14 international institutions and retrospectively analyzed using univariable and multivariable methods and compared with 36 gastric-type adenocarcinomas and 173 human papillomavirus-associated (HPVA) endocervical adenocarcinoma (ECA) regarding overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS).

The discovery that zinc atoms may compete with copper for their absorption in the gastrointestinal tract let to introduce zinc in the therapy of Wilson's disease, a congenital disorder of copper metabolism characterized by a systemic copper storage. Nowadays, zinc salts are considered one of the best therapeutic approach in patients affected by Wilson's disease.

Although calcifications are present in ≈50% to 60% of carotid plaques, their association with cerebrovascular ischemic events remains unclear. In this review, we summarize current understanding of carotid plaque calcification.

The complexity of COVID-19 is also related to the multiple molecular pathways triggered by SARS-CoV-2, which is able to cause type I pneumocyte death, trigger intravascular coagulation, interfere with the renin-angiotensin system, dysregulate iron metabolism, ending with the insurgence of a cytokine storm which may lead to death. Old adults with obesity, hypertension, and diabetes are among the high-risk category groups more prone to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Magnesium has been reported to play a major role both in physiology and in pathology, particularly in elderly people, regulating cytotoxic functions of natural killer (NK) cells and CD8+ T lymphocytes.

It is characterized by hypergammaglobulinemia, circulating autoantibodies, interface hepatitis on liver histology and a favourable response to immunosuppression. The putative mechanism for the development of autoimmune hepatitis is thought to be the interaction between genetic predisposition, environmental triggers and failure of the native immune system.

The correct identification of this category has relevant therapeutic implications. LIM domain only 2 (LMO2) is overexpressed in most T-LBL, but not in immature TdT-positive T-cells in the thymus and in indolent T-lymphoblastic proliferations (iT-LBP).
