Background And Aims: Clonal haematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) can increase the risk of myocardial infarction (MI). Among various CHIP mutations, JAK2 V617F substantially elevated this risk. However, the specific associations between JAK2 V617F and two mechanisms of MI, plaque erosion and plaque rupture, remain unclear.

Conventional spectral image demosaicing algorithms rely on pixels' spatial or spectral correlations for reconstruction. Due to the missing data in the multispectral filter array (MSFA), the estimation of spatial or spectral correlations is inaccurate, leading to poor reconstruction results, and these algorithms are time-consuming. Deep learning-based spectral image demosaicing methods directly learn the nonlinear mapping relationship between 2D spectral mosaic images and 3D multispectral images.

Depression, a prevalent psychiatric disorder of ambiguous etiology and high heterogeneity, has been recently linked to the primary visual cortex (V1). However, the precise circuits mediating the impact of V1 on depressive-like behaviors are poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate that the V1, specifically the lateral posterior nucleus of the thalamus (LP)-projecting V1 glutamatergic subpopulation (Glu neurons), shows reduced activity after chronic restraint stress (CRS) in male mice, leading to depressive-like behaviors.

Deubiquitinating enzymes play crucial roles in various cellular activities, yet their involvement in central nervous system (CNS) vascularization and barrier function remains elusive. Canonical Wnt signaling is essential for proper CNS vascularization and barrier maintenance. Using a loss-of-function screening for Wnt-signaling activity, we identified ubiquitin-specific peptidase 9 X-linked (USP9X) as a key regulator in brain endothelial cells (BECs).

Introduction: Loss of skin integrity due to a wound or disease can lead to severe disability or even life threat. The highly expressed microRNAs in the skin are of great significance for skin development. The purpose of the investigation was to explore the effect and mechanism of miR-211 on inflammation, oxidative stress, and migration in keratinocytes.

Aluminum and its alloys are widely used in the busbar structures of electrolytic aluminum production. However, they are prone to corrosion and wear damage during use, leading to a decline in current-transmission efficiency and potentially causing safety issues. To repair damaged aluminum busbars, this paper explores the feasibility of using cold spraying technology for surface restoration.

Nerve aberrations and vascular lesions in the distal lower limbs are the etiological factors for diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). This study aimed to understand the regulatory mechanism of angiogenesis in patients with DFU by examining lncRNA, as well as to explore effective targets for diagnosing and treating DFU. The serum levels of A1BG-AS1 and miR-214-3p and the predictive power of A1BG-AS1 for DFU were determined by quantitative PCR and ROC analysis.

During storage and transportation, fruits and vegetables are susceptible to various pathogens, leading to quality degradation and significant economic losses. Currently, chemical pesticides are primarily used for control; however, their overuse poses serious threats to human health and causes environmental pollution. Biocontrol, known for its environmentally friendly characteristics, has been extensively studied.

Background: Radon, a colorless and odorless radioactive gas, poses serious health risks. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer and notably increases lung cancer risk in smokers. Although previous epidemiological studies have mainly examined lung cancer rates in miners, the effects of radon on genomic stability and its molecular mechanisms are not well understood.

Background: Pre-eclampsia has long been proven to be an independent risk factor for postpartum depression (PPD). Excessive increase in body mass index (BMI) during pregnancy is an important factor inducing pre-eclampsia. Increased blood pressure is the main symptom of patients with pre-eclampsia.

Aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs), which have attracted attentions in the field of energy storage, is affected by dendrites and side reactions of Zn anode, resulting in an unsatisfactory performance of AZIBs. Herein, we propose a biased adsorption strategy mediated by straight-chain molecule (Scm) for stabilizing Zn anode. The dual polar termini of Scms guaranties securely anchor themselves in a parallel orientation upon the Zn anode surface.

Article Synopsis
  • Pummelo (Citrus maxima) is a key citrus fruit linked to the development of other varieties like sweet oranges and lemons and has been grown for about 4,000 years, primarily in China and Southeast Asia.
  • Whole-genome sequencing of 290 pummelo samples revealed that its origin is in Yunnan province, with significant distribution changes occurring approximately 2,000 years ago, likely influenced by the Maritime Silk Road.
  • The research uncovered genetic differences related to fruit flavor and color, identifying a specific gene (LCYB2) responsible for the red-flesh trait, which shows how human selection shaped the fruit's cultivation and appearance.

Skeletal muscle is crucial for health, and glucocorticoid-induced atrophy poses a significant clinical challenge. This study utilized a dexamethasone (Dex)-induced mouse model to assess the impact of selenium supplementation on skeletal muscle atrophy during and after Dex treatment. Increasing evidence suggests the existence of a 'gut-muscle axis', where gut microbiota plays a regulatory role in muscle metabolism and function.

Objective: To investigate the clinical effects of thread-dragging therapy on gangrene of non-ischemic diabetic foot ulcers (NIDFU).

Methods: A total of 136 patients with NIDFU were recruited from the Department of Peripheral Vascular Surgery, Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between June 21, 2021 and February 1, 2023, and randomized into an intervention group and a control group, with 68 cases in each group. Both groups received basic treatment.

Background: Atheroprotective shear stress preserves endothelial barrier function, while atheroprone shear stress enhances endothelial permeability. Yet, the underlying mechanisms through which distinct flow patterns regulate EC integrity remain to be clarified. This study aimed to investigate the involvement of Kindlin-2, a key component of focal adhesion and endothelial adherens junctions crucial for regulating endothelial cell (EC) integrity and vascular stability.

  • Metabolic disorders contribute to diabetic vascular complications, particularly diabetic retinopathy, which is a major cause of blindness in working-age adults.
  • Researchers found high levels of O-GlcNAc modification in retina endothelial cells of individuals with diabetic retinopathy, and inhibiting this modification can improve vascular issues.
  • The study highlights how the O-GlcNAc modification affects the Hippo pathway proteins YAP and TAZ, promoting dysfunction through a process involving glucose metabolism and suggests targeting this pathway might offer new therapeutic options.

Deep learning-based video denoising methods have achieved great performance improvements in recent years. However, the expensive computational cost arising from sophisticated network design has severely limited their applications in real-world scenarios. To address this practical weakness, we propose a multiscale spatio-temporal memory network for fast video denoising, named MSTMN, aiming at striking an improved trade-off between cost and performance.

The direct coupling of nitrate ions and carbon dioxide for urea synthesis presents an appealing alternative to the Bosch-Meiser process in industry. The simultaneous activation of carbon dioxide and nitrate, however, as well as efficient C-N coupling on single active site, poses significant challenges. Here, we propose a novel metal/hydroxide heterostructure strategy based on synthesizing an Ag-CuNi(OH) composite to cascade carbon dioxide and nitrate reduction reactions for urea electrosynthesis.
