Contact-electro-catalysis (CEC) has emerged as a promising catalytic methodology, integrating principles from solid-liquid triboelectric nanogenerators (SL-TENGs) into catalysis. Unlike conventional approaches, CEC harnesses various forms of mechanical energy, including wind and water, along with other renewable sources, enabling reactions under natural conditions without reliance on specific energy inputs like light or electricity. This review presents the basic principles of CEC and discusses its applications, including the degradation of organic molecules, synthesis of chemical substances, and reduction of metals.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection is associated with clinical symptoms, treatment response, need for surgical intervention, and an enhanced likelihood of lymphoma among patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). However, existing studies have primarily concentrated on the epidemiological and clinical associations between EBV and UC, leaving the mechanisms by which EBV exacerbates colitis poorly understood.
Methods: Clinical specimens of UC patients with EBV infection and a mouse model of dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis with concurrent murine γ-herpesvirus 68 (MHV-68) infection were utilized to investigate the relationship between EBV infection and macrophage pyroptosis.

Background: The prospective application of plasma Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA load as a noninvasive measure of intestinal EBV infection remains unexplored. This study aims to identify ideal threshold levels for plasma EBV DNA loads in the diagnosis and outcome prediction of intestinal EBV infection, particularly in cases of primary intestinal lymphoproliferative diseases and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Methods: Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were examined to determine suitable thresholds for plasma EBV DNA load in diagnosing intestinal EBV infection and predicting its prognosis.

This study aimed to demonstrate the prognostic significance of high APR for poorly differentiated HCC (PD-HCC), imaging characteristics and overall survival (OS) in patients after intra-arterial therapies.
Methods: Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were constructed and areas under the curve (AUCs) were calculated to evaluate the predictive ability of APR to discriminate subgroup(s) of HCC with good or poor prognosis.

Methods: This study identified genes linked to HCC progression via differential analysis. Key genes were identified through univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis.
Background: Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are severe clinical conditions with limited treatment options. Toosendanin (TSN), a triterpenoid compound with anti-inflammatory effects, has unclear efficacy in ALI.
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate TSN's protective effects on ALI and the related mechanisms.
Centrosomal dysregulation is closely linked to the genesis and progression of tumors. A comprehensive analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data has revealed that leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 45 (LRRC45), a centrosome linker protein crucial for maintaining centrosome cohesion and a member of the leucine-rich repeat-containing proteins (LRRCs) family, is significantly upregulated in bladder cancer. Notably, the elevated expression levels of LRRC45 were strongly correlated with a poor prognosis in patients.

However, the optimal dosing regimen and timing of RTX, or combination with other immunosuppressants, especially in patients with extremely high titers (> 1,000 RU/mL) of anti-PLA2R antibody (aPLA2R), are unclear at present. This report describes the case of a 70-year-old PMN patient with extremely high aPLA2R titer who failed to respond to very high doses of RTX.

Based on 644 soil samples collected from a typical oasis located at the eastern margin of the Tarim Basin, a series of models, namely, multiple linear regression (LR), neural network (BP), random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and radial basis function (RBF), were built to predict the soil heavy metal content. The optimal prediction result was obtained and utilized to analyze the spatial distribution features of heavy metal contamination and relevant health risks.
