Background: China has the highest number of diabetics globally, necessitating refined disease management strategies. Diabetes Internet-based nursing clinic services (INCS) can significantly improve health behaviors, blood glucose levels, and help prevent complications. The services mainly rely on the Internet platform for nurses' door-to-door service abroad, while China's "Internet + Nursing Service" combines online and offline modes.

Background: Cervical cancer poses a serious threat to women's health globally, especially in China. HPV vaccination and screening are crucial prevention and control measures. However, the screening coverage among Chinese women remains low, and there is a need to better understand the knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and information needs of Chinese HPV-vaccinated women regarding cervical cancer prevention to optimize prevention and control strategies.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) combined with anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) have been the standard first-line treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the efficacy of this combination in post-line treatment is still unknown. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the combination of anti-PD-L1 envafolimab and novel humanized anti-VEGF suvemcitug as second-line treatment for patients with HCC.

The effectiveness and safety of combining anlotinib with gemcitabine and cisplatin in the first-line treatment of recurrent/metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (R/M NPC) have not been definitively established. This research seeks to investigate the potential benefits and risks of utilizing this combination therapy in the first-line management of R/M NPC. The research involved 22 individuals diagnosed with R/M NPC and who had not undergone any previous treatment.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify prognostic factors and develop a nomogram for survival in patients with brainstem ependymoma.

Methods: Data of 652 patients diagnosed with brainstem ependymoma extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registry from 2000 to 2020 were analyzed. Univariate and multivariable Cox regression analyses were performed to examine factors influencing overall survival (OS).

Purpose: Aplastic anemia (AA) is a bone marrow failure syndrome with an unclear pathogenesis. Abnormal T cell immunity is one of the mechanisms involved in AA, and CD3ζ is an important signaling molecule for T cell activation. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in CD3ζ 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) were associated with some immune-related disease occurrence and affect CD3ζ protein level.

Optimizing the composition and structure of nanocatalysts is an efficient approach to achieving the top electrocatalytic performance. However, the construction of hollow nanocomposites composed of metal phosphides and highly conductive carbon to promote the electrocatalytic performance of metal phosphide-based catalysts is rarely reported. Herein, a CoFeP/C nanobox nanocomposite consisting of Co-Fe mixed-metal phosphides and N-doped carbon was successfully fabricated through an ion-exchange phosphidation strategy derived from ZIF-67 nanocubes.

Background: The management of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) often includes the use of radiotherapy, with individual outcomes being impacted by the tumor's response to this treatment modality. Cephalomannine (CPM), a taxane diterpenoid found in Taxus spp, has been found to have anti-tumor activity. This study was aim to the explore the role and mechanism by which CPM affects radiotherapy resistance in NSCLC.

Article Synopsis
  • - The incidence of primary liver cancer, particularly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), is on the rise globally, with China having the highest rates; early detection is crucial as symptoms often appear late in the disease.
  • - This study aims to analyze the biological role of Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Non-Receptor 2 (PTPN2) in HCC using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and various laboratory methods to assess its diagnostic and prognostic value.
  • - Results demonstrate that PTPN2 expression correlates with HCC patient survival and suggests its potential involvement in immune evasion processes in liver cancer.

Article Synopsis
  • A case in China is documented where a 70-year-old healthy man developed a brain abscess due to Nocardia beijingensis, a condition successfully treated with surgery and antibiotics.
  • The study includes findings from scanning electron microscopy of the strain and a review of existing literature, indicating that N. beijingensis is increasingly recognized as a pathogen that can affect even immunocompetent patients, with abscess formation being a frequent outcome.

The sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus can expel internal organs under stress and regenerate them subsequently. However, growth is delayed during regeneration, significantly impacting the industry. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are single-stranded circular RNA molecules produced through alternative splicing of mRNA precursors.

Background: Serous ovarian carcinoma (SOC) is considered the most lethal gynecological malignancy. The current lack of reliable prognostic biomarkers for SOC reduces the efficacy of predictive, preventive, and personalized medicine (PPPM/3PM) in patients with SOC, leading to unsatisfactory therapeutic outcomes. N6-methyladenosine (mA) modification-associated long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are effective predictors of SOC.

In aqueous solution, a novel triangle-like tungstovanadate estertin derivative KH[(WO(HO)){(SnCHCHCOO)(VW/VO)}{{(SnCHCHCOO)(μ-OH)}(SnCHCHCOO)(VWO)}]·31HO ((SnR)8-V3W35, R = CHCHCOO) was assembled by a conventional synthetic method. (SnR)8-V3W35 is composed of one [VWO] ({VW}) and two [VWO] ({VW}) units connected by eight [Sn(CH)COO] groups and a {WO} cluster. Interestingly, there exists a pentagonal bipyramid WO polyhedral center surrounded by two SnCO and three WO octahedra, forming a pentagonal {(WO)W(SnR)} cluster in this polyoxometalate (POM), which is also the first example of a pentagonal structure formed by transition metals (TMs) and main group organometals in the POM family.

Food-derived mucins are glycoproteins rich in sialic acid, but their digestive properties and potential health benefits for humans have been scarcely investigated. In this work, ovomucin (OVM, rich in N-acetylneuraminic acid, about 3 %), porcine small intestinal mucin (PSIM, rich in N-glycolylneuraminic acid, about 1 %), the desialylated OVM (AOVM) and the desialylated PSIM (APSIM) were selected to examine their digestion and their impact on the gut microbiota of elderly individuals. The results shown that, the proportion of low-molecular-weight proteins increased after simulated digestion of these four mucins, with concomitant comparable antioxidant activity observed.

Objective: Distant metastasis occurs in some patients at the first diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), the prognosis is poor, and there are significant individual differences. This study established a nomogram model of lung metastasis of NPC as a supplement to TNM staging.

Methods: The training cohort is used to build the nomogram model, and the validation cohort is used to evaluate the model.

A triterpenoid isolated from the plant Hedera helix, hederagenin was discovered to have anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant and anti-fibrosis properties both in vivo and in vitro. In this study, the relationship between mitochondrial fission and hederagenin-induced apoptosis in ovarian cancer (OC) was investigated and the underlying mechanisms were deciphered. Hederagenin's cytotoxicity on OC cells was analyzed using colony formation and CCK-8 assays.
