Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) is the master regulator of adipogenesis and is expressed as two isoforms, PPARγ1 and PPARγ2. Our previous lentiviral overexpression study showed that PPARγ1 and PPARγ2 differentially regulated proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis of the immortalized chicken preadipocyte cell line (ICP2). However, we cannot rule out the possibility that the endogenous expression of PPARγ isoforms may compromise our findings.

The miR-17-92 cluster is involved in animal development and homeostasis, and its dysregulation leads to human diseases such as cancer. In the present study, we investigated the functional link between miR-17-92 cluster and Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in ICP2 and DF1 cells. We demonstrated that ectopic expression of either LEF1 or β-catenin increased the promoter activity of the miR-17-92 cluster host gene (MIR17HG) and combined ectopic expression of LEF1 and β-catenin further enhanced the promoter activity; while knockdown of either LEF1 or β-catenin reduced the MIR17HG promoter activity.

Dickkopf-1 (DKK1) is an inhibitor of canonical Wnt signaling pathway and regulates hair follicle morphogenesis and cycling. To investigate the potential involvement of in wool production and quality traits, we characterized the genomic structure of ovine , performed polymorphism detection and association analysis of ovine with wool production and quality traits in Chinese Merino. Our results showed that ovine consists of four exons and three introns, which encodes a protein of 262 amino acids.

The periostin (POSTN) and platelet-derived growth factor receptor-like (PDGFRL) genes are implicated in regulation of hen ovarian development. In the present study, these genes were explored as possible molecular markers associated with egg production, egg weight and body weight in Chinese Dagu hens. Samples were analyzed using the PCR-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) method, followed by sequencing analysis, and three novel single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified within the candidate genes.

Here, we propose a new method, the cumulative damage index method, in which the number of larvae and their amount of food consumption are simultaneously included in the calculation of the theoretical cumulative damage index (T) and actual cumulative damage index (A). This paper presents a novel and simple adaptive algorithm for estimating the position of a mobile robot with high accuracy in an unknown and unstructured environment by fusing images of an omnidirectional vision system with measurements of odometry and inertial sensors. Based on a new derivation where the omnidirectional projection can be linearly parameterized by the positions of the robot and natural feature points, we propose a novel adaptive algorithm, which is similar to the Slotine-Li algorithm in model-based adaptive control, to estimate the robot's position by using the tracked feature points in image sequence, the robot's velocity, and orientation angles measured by odometry and inertial sensors. It is proved that the adaptive algorithm leads to global exponential convergence of the position estimation errors to zero.

The water-soluble quaternary ammonium salt of chitosan was synthesized by reaction of chitosan with glycidyl trimethylammonium chloride. It was characterized by Fourier transform infrared and carbon-13 magnetic resonance spectra. Its microbiostatic effects against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candid albicans were explored by microcalorimetry.
