Background: Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a severe lung condition posing significant health risks. Observational studies have indicated a potential linkage between ARDS and various interleukins, such as Interleukin-8, -2, -6, and -1β. However, the causal relationships between specific interleukins, their receptors, and ARDS remain unclear.

Dental mesenchymal stem cells (DMSCs) are crucial in tooth development and periodontal health, and their multipotential differentiation and self-renewal ability play a critical role in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Methylation modifications could promote the appropriate biological behavior by postsynthetic modification of DNA or protein and make the organism adapt to developmental and environmental prompts by regulating gene expression without changing the DNA sequence. Methylation modifications involved in DMSC fate include DNA methylation, RNA methylation, and histone modifications, which have been proven to exert a significant effect on the regulation of the fate of DMSCs, such as proliferation, self-renewal, and differentiation potential.

Periodontitis is the sixth-most prevalent chronic inflammatory disease and gradually devastates tooth-supporting tissue. The complexity of periodontal tissue and the local inflammatory microenvironment poses great challenges to tissue repair. Recently, stem cells have been considered a promising strategy to treat tissue damage and inflammation because of their remarkable properties, including stemness, proliferation, migration, multilineage differentiation, and immunomodulation.

The present study aimed to identify genes associated with increased risk of myocardial infarction (MI) and construct an early diagnosis model based on support vector machine (SVM) learning. The gene expression profile data of GSE34198, containing 97 human blood samples including 49 patients with MI and 48 healthy individuals, were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. Differentially expressed gene (DEG) screening, DEG enrichment analysis, protein‑protein interaction (PPI) network investigation and clustering analysis were performed.

Objective: To translate the Perceived Stress Questionnaire (PSQ) into Chinese, validate its reliability and validity in nursing students and investigate the perceived stress level of nursing students.

Method: Forward- and back-translation combined with expert assessment and cross-cultural adaptations were used to construct the Chinese version of the PSQ (C-PSQ). This research adopted a stratified sampling method among 1,519 nursing students in 30 classes of Ningbo College of Health Sciences to assess the reliability and validity of the C-PSQ.

The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)-contacting nucleus is implicated in the descending inhibitory pathway in pain processing, whereas the cellular and molecular mechanisms underpinning CSF-contacting nucleus regulating pain signals remains largely elusive. ATP is evidenced to inhibit pain transmission at supraspinal level by the mediation of the receptor P2X, wherein its subtype P2X3 is identified as the most potent. Our present experiment investigated the functionality of P2X3 receptors in CSF-contacting nucleus in the formalin-evoked inflammatory pain.

To compare the efficacy of various irrigants (citric acid, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and NaOCl) and techniques in removing Ca(OH) in two types of curved root canal systems, simulated root canals with specific curvatures were used to investigate the effects of different irrigants and instruments on Ca(OH) removal. The optimal methods were verified on extracted human teeth. Simulated root canals were assigned to one of two groups based on the irrigation solution: 10% citric acid or 2.

To investigate oral health status in the residents of Sichuan Province, southwest China, a cross-sectional study was performed using the latest Oral Health Survey Basic Methods recommended by the World Health Organization. A multistage stratified random cluster-sampling method was used to enroll participants from the following three groups: children aged 3-5 years, adolescents aged 12 years, and people aged 65-74 years. In these three groups, the mean numbers of teeth that were affected by caries were 3.

A new clinic conception, healthy cosmetic management (HCM), was innovated introduced into diagnose and treatment of patients with high caries risk. The priority of HCM should be given to aesthetic restoration of teeth, taking consideration of the conserving of tissue and pulp of teeth and the balance between health and aesthetics, which may reach to the goal of the individual clinic treatment. HCM includes five steps: 1) caries risk assessment; 2) detection of initial caries; 3) digital aesthetic design; 4) minimally invasive therapy; 5) behavior management of caries and doctor-patient communication pattern.
