Promising clinical outcome of stereotactic body radiation therapy for patients with inoperable Stage I/II non-small-cell lung cancer.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of hypofractionated stereotactic body radiotherapy in patients with Stage I/II non-small-cell lung cancer.

Methods And Materials: Forty-three patients with inoperable Stage I/II non-small-cell lung cancer underwent treatment prospectively using the stereotactic gamma-ray whole-body therapeutic system (body gamma-knife radiosurgery) with 30 rotary conical-surface Co(60) sources focused on the target volume. Low-speed computed tomography simulation was conducted, which was followed by three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy planning.

[A study on the risk factors of none-insulin-dependent type diabetes mellitus].

Cloning of the amino-terminal and 5'-flanking region of the human MUC5AC mucin gene and transcriptional up-regulation by bacterial exoproducts.

To obtain gene regulatory sequence for the mucin gene MUC5AC, we have isolated the MUC5AC amino terminus cDNA and 5'-flanking region. This was possible through the use of rapid amplification of cDNA ends-polymerase chain reaction (RACE-PCR) in which the 5' sequence of the human gastric mucin cDNA HGM-1 (1) was used to design the first MUC5AC-specific primer. Primers for subsequent rounds of RACE were designed from the 5'-ends of amplified RACE products.

A rapid and quantitative assay for inhibition of 3' cleavage activity of HIV-1 integrase.

The human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) integrase catalyzes the specific removal of two nucleotides at either 3' end of each long terminal repeat (LTR) sequence of the proviral DNA duplex. The most commonly used in vitro assays for integrase employ 5' end 32P-labeled double-stranded oligonucleotides and the product of integrase-associated endonuclease activity is visualized by denaturing gel electrophoresis followed by autoradiography. Effect of ifetroban, a thromboxane A2 receptor antagonist, in stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats.

Experiments were performed to determine the effect of chronic therapy with the potent and long-acting thromboxane (TX) A2/prostaglandin endoperoxide (TP) receptor antagonist, ifetroban, on hypertension development and the incidence of stroke in stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRSP). SHRSP instrumented with radiotelemetry probes, for continuous monitoring of arterial blood pressure, were given 1% NaCl to drink and Stroke-Prone Rodent Diet and were chronically treated with ifetroban (20 mg/kg/day, n = 10) or vehicle (n = 12) starting at 16.5 weeks of age.
