Background: Antiretroviral therapy (ART) security policy in China has entered a new stage of diversification, and there are free ART, medical insurance ART, self-funded ART. In recent years, some people living with human immunodeficiency virus(PLWH) have switched to medical insurance ART from free ART. Therefore, this study analyzed the information of those PLWH to provide reference for improving ART security policy in China.

Using a comprehensive molecular epidemiological approach, we characterized the transmission dynamics of HIV-1 among the MSM population in Tianjin, China. Our findings revealed that 38.56% (386/1001) of individuals clustered across 109 molecular transmission clusters (TCs), with MSM aged 50 and below being the group most commonly transmitting HIV-1.

Article Synopsis
  • * In China, a significant occurrence of mpox among the MSM population has been observed since June 2023, with about 90% of cases linked to homosexual behavior before symptom onset.
  • * To effectively control mpox transmission in China, it's essential to enhance surveillance, educational strategies, and encourage high-risk individuals to seek prompt medical attention upon experiencing symptoms.

DNA methylation is an ideal trait to study the extent of the shared genetic control across ancestries, effectively providing hundreds of thousands of model molecular traits with large QTL effect sizes. We investigate cis DNAm QTLs in three European (n = 3701) and two East Asian (n = 2099) cohorts to quantify the similarities and differences in the genetic architecture across populations. We observe 80,394 associated mQTLs (62.

Introduction: The dynamic HIV/AIDS epidemic significantly impacts China, particularly affecting injection drug users (IDUs), former plasma donors (FPDs), men who have sex with men (MSM), and those engaging in high-risk heterosexual behavior (HRHB). This study specifically focuses on identifying the risk factors and influences that drive the spread of HIV among these population groups by performing a comprehensive analysis of contact histories of individuals diagnosed with HIV.

Methods: Data for this research were gathered from China's HIV/AIDS Comprehensive Response Information Management System (CRIMS).

Background: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) drug prophylaxis, including post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), has not yet been generally recognized and accepted by the whole society in China, and the utilization coverage among high-risk populations is low. Healthcare workers (HCWs) are important to the promotion and implementation of HIV drug prophylaxis strategy. This study analyzed the HIV drug prophylaxis services cascade (knowledge, attitude, and service) in HCWs, and explored the correlations between PEP and PrEP.

The Class-I histone deacetylases (HDACs) mediate microglial inflammation and neurological dysfunction after traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, whether the individual Class-I HDACs play an indispensable role in TBI pathogenesis remains elusive. HDAC2 has been shown to upregulate pro-inflammatory genes in myeloid cells under brain injuries such as intracerebral hemorrhage, thereby worsening outcomes.

Introduction: Recent data indicate a year-on-year increase in the proportion of human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) cases reported among individuals aged ≥50 in China. This study compares the epidemiological characteristics of HIV/AIDS cases in populations above and below 50 years of age. By doing so, it seeks to scrutinize the current epidemiological landscape of HIV within these distinct age cohorts and suggest tailored interventions for each group.

Aim: To develop the 17-item Asthenopia Survey Questionnaire (ASQ)-17 by Rasch analysis, and to generate a predictiveness score.

Methods: Totally 739 participants were recruited and 680 were involved in the result analysis in this prospective, cross-sectional study. Three rounds of Rasch analysis were used to analyze the psychometric characteristics of items and options.

High myopia (HM) is one of the leading causes of visual impairment and blindness worldwide. Here, we report a whole-exome sequencing (WES) study in 9,613 HM cases and 9,606 controls of Han Chinese ancestry to pinpoint HM-associated risk variants. Single-variant association analysis identified three newly identified -genetic loci associated with HM, including an East Asian ancestry-specific low-frequency variant (rs533280354) in FKBP5.

What Is Already Known On This Topic?: Men who have sex with men (MSM) in China have a high rate of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) have been shown to be effective in preventing HIV, which may help to contain the HIV epidemic among MSM.

What Is Added By This Report?: This study found that knowledge and usage of PrEP were low among MSM, indicating that this population is at high risk for HIV infection.

Objective: Reducing the prevalence of treatment failure among people living with HIV (PLHIV) on highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) is crucial for improving individual health and reducing disease burden. This study aimed to assess existing evidence on treatment failure and its associated factors among PLHIV in mainland China.

Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search of PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, WanFang, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and SinoMed databases.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on estimating mortality rates among people living with HIV who started HAART in Luzhou, China from 2006 to 2020.
  • Mortality rates showed significant improvement over time, with excess mortality decreasing from 1.8 to 0.8 deaths per 100 person-years and standardized mortality rates dropping from 5.4 to 1.7 deaths per 100 person-years.
  • Male patients, those with low CD4 counts, and those in advanced clinical stages experienced higher excess mortality rates, indicating the need for tailored healthcare strategies.

Background: The etiology and mechanism of persistent geotropic horizontal direction-changing positional nystagmus (DCPN) are still unclear. Whether this pattern of nystagmus is a subtype of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) remains controversial.

Objective: The goal of this study was to observe the clinical characteristics of persistent geotropic horizontal DCPN involving the lateral semicircular canal.

Background: The principal function of skin is to provide a barrier to water loss and percutaneous penetration of exogenous substances. Any compromise of the skin homeostasis can lead to dryness, itchiness, or even pathogenic conditions. This study aimed to explore the relationship among psychological stress, skin homeostasis, sleep quality, and emotion.

Men who have sex with men (MSM) is a group of people at high risk for HIV infection in China, Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a bioprophylaxis strategy in the prevention of HIV infection in MSM, which can reduce the risk for HIV infection in this population effectively. However, in the paractice, the use level of PrEP in MSM is low in China, and there are MSM who know PrEP but receive no PrEP. This paper summarizes the current status of the awareness, willingness to use, actual use of PrEP in MSM and influencing factors both at home and abroad to provide a reference for the promotion of PrEP use in MSM in China.

Based on the literature on myopia epidemiology, experiments of basic science, and clinical research, we have identified a number of major characteristics of the myopia problem. It was concluded that the student population of grades 1-12 showed high incidence of myopia and the problem was becoming increasingly more serious. Etiological investigations revealed the aggressive role played by environmental factors.
