Background: Percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (PTED) has become popular over the years due to its safety and low invasiveness. This surgery can be performed with different anesthesia techniques; however, the extent to which the surgeon and patient are satisfied with the analgesia is debatable.

Objectives: This study investigated the efficiency of the S1 transforaminal epidural block.

The PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway is responsible for many cellular behaviors, including survival, growth, and proliferation. A newly identified RNA, circular RNA (circRNA), plays a crucial role in the regulation of gene expression. The upregulation of the PI3K/Akt pathway through dysregulated circRNAs promotes breast tumor initiation, growth, and progression.

Objective: Proximal humerus fractures became one of the most prevalent upper extremity fractures during recent decades. The use of scoring systems has been taken under consideration to estimate the surveillance, prognosis, and post-operative outcomes. During this study, we investigated the outcome measure of proximal humerus fracture treated by open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) with plate based on oxford shoulder score (OSS).

Background: Nanoscale coordination polymers (nCP) have exhibited a great potential in designing of the theranostic platforms in the latest years. However, they have low selectivity for cancerous tissues and require to be modified for becoming effective cancer therapeutics. In this study, a novel nanoscale pH and redox-responsive coordination polymer with high selectivity was synthesized.

In this study, nanoparticles with both anticancer and antibacterial features were synthesized through loading chlorogenic acid (CGA) of essential oils on magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). Characterization of γ-FeO@SiO-CGA MNPs was performed using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) that show effective coating of the MNPs with SiO and CGA ligand and spherical shape of the nanoparticles with a mean diameter of 16 nm, respectively. The cytotoxicity study demonstrated that γ-FeO@SiO-CGA MNPs had fewer toxic effects on normal cells (Huvec) than on cancerous cells (U-87 MG, A-2780 and A-549), and could be a new potential candidate for use in biological and pharmaceutical applications.

Aim: To present a new sonographic approach for lumbar transforamianal injection and compared it with traditional fluoroscopicguided approach.

Material And Methods: This interventional clinical study was conducted on 30 patients with a history of radicular lowback pain and a recent MRI indicating root compression. On the prone position, with the curve of ultrasound transducer on the parasagittal oblique position, a peripheral venous catheter (# 16) was advanced to the lamina through out-of-plane technique.

In this work the binding of artificial sweetener aspartame with human serum albumin (HSA) was studied at physiological pH. Binding studies of aspartame (APM) with HSA are useful to understand APM -HSA interaction, mechanism and providing guidance for the application and design of new and more efficient artificial sweeteners. The interaction was investigated by spectrophotometric, spectrofluorometric competition experiment and circular dichroism (CD) techniques.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), as a prominent category of hybrid porous materials constructed from metal clusters or ions with organic linkers, have been broadly employed as controlled systems of drug delivery due to their inherent interesting properties. These properties, such as high loading capability and tremendous biocompatibility, offer an exceptional opportunity for the treatment of cancer. In this review, we focus on the latest advancement of smart MOFs as systems of drug delivery for cancer treatment, diagnosis or both (theranostics).

Nowadays many physicians have focused their attention on using low invasive methods for the treatment of disc protrusion. Thus, the current study was carried out to evaluate the effect and therapeutic outcomes of clinical percutaneous laser disc decompression (PLDD) in the treatment of chronic low back pain caused by disc protrusion during a two-year follow-up. This historical cohort study was conducted on 40 patients, who were suffering from chronic low back pain caused by disc protrusion diagnosed, and referred to the pain clinic of Akhtar Hospital from March to August 2016 were treated with PLDD and were followed up for at least two years after performing PLDD (from 2018 to 2019).

This investigation indicated an efficient procedure to purify human carbonic anhydrase II (hCA II) enzyme through sulfanilamide-functionalized (γ-FeO-CPTES-SA) magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), where synthesis of FeO MNPs was carried out using co-precipitation reaction. Next, 3-chloropropyltriethoxysilane (CPTES) was used to modify FeO nanoparticles and lastly, the surface of the nanoparticles was functionalized with sulfanilamide (SA) as a carbonic anhydrase ligand/inhibitor for binding to hCA II. The characterization of the synthesized nanoparticles was performed using various techniques.

The membrane fouling has always been a big issue for developing membrane applications. Surface morphology and roughness affect remarkably on the membrane tendency to fouling. In this study, a biomimetic technique, as a simple, cost-effective and time-saving method was employed to replicate Tropaeolum majus (nasturtium) leaf surface on the surface of a commercial thin-film composite (TFC) reverse osmosis (RO) membrane using polyethersulfone (PES) moulds.

Background: The relationship of exiting root and Kambin's triangle is discussed in this article. Transforaminal endoscopic surgery as the gold standard of less invasive lumbar disc surgeries is performed through Kambin's triangle. Existing root damage is one of the most important complication for this type of surgery.

Till now we know two fracture pattern in forearm fracture dislocation, Galeazzi fracture dislocation which is defined as fracture of radial shaft with distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) dislocation and Monteggia fracture dislocation which is ulnar fracture with radial head dislocation. During this case report we present a case with simultaneous distal and proximal radioulnar dislocation and radial shaft fracture which is extremely rare fracture pattern and could be a new entity in forearm bones fracture dislocation.
