Background And Objective: Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) is a highly conformal technique of external beam radiotherapy precisely delivering high total (ablative) doses in a small number of fractions to clearly defined target volumes. Its development enabled efficient and safe radiation treatments in patients with localized hepatocellular cancer (HCC) unsuitable for other local treatment options. Moreover, it can be easily combined with several other therapy approaches.

Methods: Ninety-eight OPC patients were treated between 2000 and 2015. Thirty-three patients received definitive and 65 adjuvant radiotherapy.
Background: The current study aims to evaluate the occurrence of temporal lobe reactions and identify possible risk factors for patients who underwent particle therapy of the skull base.
Methods: 244 patients treated for skull base chordoma ( = 144) or chondrosarcoma ( = 100) at the Heidelberg Ion Beam Therapy Center (HIT) using a raster scan technique, were analyzed. Follow-up MRI-scans were matched with the initial planning images.
Intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) is a radiation technique applying a single fraction with a high dose during surgery. We report the first abdomino-pelvic application of an image-guided intraoperative electron radiation therapy with intraoperative real time dose calculation based on the individual intraoperative patient anatomy. A patient suffering from locoregionally recurrent rectal cancer after treatment with neoadjuvant re-chemoradiation was chosen for this approach.

Patients And Methods: In this monocentric, retrospective analysis we characterized patients aged ≥70 years undergoing systemic therapy for mCRC and overall survival (OS) was investigated.
Elderly patients represent a growing subgroup of cancer patients for whom the role of radiation therapy is poorly defined. Older patients are still clearly underrepresented in clinical trials, resulting in very limited high-level evidence. Moreover, elderly patients are less likely to receive radiation therapy in similar clinical scenarios compared to younger patients.

Furthermore, increased response rates may allow organ-sparing strategies in a growing number of patients with low rectal cancer and upfront immunotherapy has shown very promising early results in patients with microsatellite instability (MSI)-high/mismatch-repair-deficient (dMMR) tumors. Despite the lack of a generally accepted treatment standard, we strongly believe that existing data is sufficient to adopt the concept of TNT and immunotherapy in clinical practice.

The presented GL is focused on preoperative (or definitive) setting. The project aim is to improve the consistency of clinical target volume (CTV) delineation by providing: a description of the anatomical boundaries of the LNs; a radiological computed tomography-based atlas depicting the LNs areas; a free, web-based, interactive example case for independent training of radiation oncologists on LNs delineation according to the presented GL, by both qualitative and quantitative analysis (through the FALCON EduCase platform).

One technical option with this technique is the addition of a vital autologous fibular graft, with or without microvascular anastomosis. The aim of our study was to evaluate the clinical results of the treatment of our patient cohort with a specific view to the role of fibular augmentation.

Due to a risk of up 30% for waitlist drop-out upon tumor progression, bridging therapies are used to halt tumor growth. Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) and less commonly stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) or a combination of TACE and SBRT, are used as bridging therapies in LT.

This study aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of metastasis directed stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) concurrent to TT/IT in NSCLC patients.
Methods: A retrospective multicenter cohort of stage IV NSCLC patients treated with TT/IT and concurrent (≤ 30 days) MDT was established.

Background: Desmoid-type fibromatosis (DF) is an aggressive (myo)fibroblastic neoplasm with an infiltrative growth pattern and a tendency for local recurrence. It is rarely seen at the foot. The aim of this retrospective study was to analyze clinical presentation, therapy, and outcomes in a consecutive series of four patients with DF at the foot.

Although mainly used as perioperative therapy to increase local control in resectable STS with high risk features, it also plays an increasing role in the treatment of non-resectable primary tumors, oligometastatic situations, or for palliation. Modern radiation techniques, like intensity-modulated, image-guided, or stereotactic body RT, as well as special applications like intraoperative RT, brachytherapy, or particle therapy, have widened the therapeutic window allowing either dose escalation with improved efficacy or reduction of side effects with improved functional outcome.

Patients And Methods: Data on patients with mRCC were extracted from a retrospective international multicentre register study (TOaSTT), investigating SRT concurrent (≤30 days) with TT/immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy. Overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), local metastasis control (LC) and time to systemic therapy switch were analysed using Kaplan-Meier curves and log-rank testing.
Background: Target volume definition of the primary tumor in esophageal cancer is usually based on computed tomography (CT) supported by endoscopy and/or endoscopic ultrasound and can be difficult given the low soft-tissue contrast of CT resulting in large interobserver variability. We evaluated the value of a dedicated planning [F18] FDG-Positron emission tomography/computer tomography (PET/CT) for harmonization of gross tumor volume (GTV) delineation and the feasibility of semiautomated structures for planning purposes in a large cohort.
Methods: Patients receiving a dedicated planning [F18] FDG-PET/CT (06/2011-03/2016) were included.
Background: Primary lymphoma of bone (PBL) is a rare entity. Due to unspecific clinical signs and equivocal radiographs diagnosis may be delayed. This retrospective report of 109 PBL cases demonstrates typical aspects of the lesion.

The clinical spectrum identifies a subset of patients with locally advanced tumours that are close to or involve adjoining structures, such as the sacrum, pelvic sidewalls, prostate or bladder. Within this group of patients categorized as "locally advanced", there is also variability in the extent of disease with no uniform definition of resectability.

RT (chemoradiotherapy and stereotactic body radiotherapy) is used and investigated in the non-metastatic setting as part of definitive treatment strategies, in (neo)adjuvant settings and for locally recurrent disease. The ACROP committee was delegated by ESTRO to recommend target volume delineation for these clinical situations.

Methods: A panel of experts in the field performed a systematic literature review, supplemented their clinical experience and developed recommendations for the use of IORT in the treatment of STS.
Results: Based on the evidence from the systematic literature review and the clinical experience of the panel members, recommendations regarding patient selection, incorporation into multimodal treatment concepts and the IORT procedure itself are made.
Radiation therapy (RT) is a valuable component of multimodal treatment for localized pancreatic cancer. Intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) is a very precise RT modality to intensify the irradiation effect for cancer involving upper abdominal structures and organs, generally delivered with electrons (IOERT). Unresectable, borderline and resectable disease categories benefit from dose-escalated chemoradiation strategies in the context of active systemic therapy and potential radical surgery.
