Human Defensins: Structure, Function, and Potential as Therapeutic Antimicrobial Agents with Highlights Against SARS CoV-2.

The human defensins are a group of cationic antimicrobial peptides that range in size from 2 to 5 kDa and share a common structural motif of six disulphide-linked cysteines. Several naturally occurring human α- and β-defensins have been identified over the past two decades. They have a wide variety of antimicrobial effects, and their potential to avoid the development of resistance to antimicrobial treatment makes them attractive as therapeutic agents.

Extensive study of CCN4, VCAM-1, MMP-3, and GM-CSF as reliable markers for disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis.

Background: The involvement of Wnt-1-induced secreted protein-1 (WISP1/CCN4) in several inflammatory reaction has recently been proposed. Background: Vaccination against COVID-19 virus is the most valuable tool available for protection during the pandemic of coronavirus. The clinical manifestation post-vaccination is a barrier to vaccination for many people in Iraq and worldwide.

The objective of the current study was to extract 2-(benzhydryl sulfinyl)-N-sec-butylacetamide), a novel compound from fig, and then determine its role in enhancing trastuzumab-triggered phagocytic killing of SKOV-3 cancer cells. In this study, Soxhlet was used to extract the compound from the mature and air-dried fig fruits. The production of the isolated extracts was enhanced by using polar and non-polar solvents.

Evaluating the use of informational technologies by students of healthcare colleges for academic purposes over a five-year period.

This study aimed to assess the extent to which healthcare students use five informational technologies for daily academic purposes and to examine the changes in student perceptions toward these technologies over five years. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study in 10 different colleges in seven governorates. We conducted a survey using the instruments developed from the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM).
