Knowledge and Attitude of Rheumatic Fever and Rheumatic Heart Disease Among the Makkah City Population, Saudi Arabia.

Background Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) is a prominent sequela of rheumatic fever (RF) and the most common cause of acquired valvular disease worldwide. Patients develop RHD as a result of autoimmune reactions caused by an untreated group A Streptococcus (GAS) throat infection, resulting in significant valvular destruction. Objectives The current study aimed to assess the knowledge and attitude of RF and RHD among the Makkah city population in Saudi Arabia.

Body Microbiota and Its Relationship With Benign and Malignant Breast Tumors: A Systematic Review.

Breast cancer is the most frequent type of cancer as well as one of the main causes of cancer-related mortality in women. Human microbial dysbiosis, which has been related to a range of malignancies, is one of the variables that may impact the chance of developing breast disorders. In this review, we aimed to investigate the relationship between breast cancer and benign breast tumors with dysbiosis of the microbiome at different body sites.

Psychological, sociodemographic, and clinicopathological predictors of breast cancer patients' decision to undergo breast reconstruction after mastectomy.

Objectives: To examine the influence of socioeconomic factors, anxiety, depression, and personality traits on the decision to undergo breast reconstruction (BR) post mastectomy.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, adult female breast cancer (BC) patients who had undergone a mastectomy between January 2017 and 2019 were interviewed using a 46-item questionnaire at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The questionnaire was divided into 5 sections: demographic data, personality traits, the Narcissism Index (NI), and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).

Breast lipofilling: A new treatment of Becker nevus syndrome.

Introduction: The association of Becker's nevus with other cutaneous, musculoskeletal or maxillofacial anomalies is called Becker nevus syndrome. Ipsilateral breast hypoplasia is the main reason for female patients to seek medical advice. We present two clinical cases of Becker nevus syndrome with thoracic nevus and ipsilateral breast hypoplasia treated with lipofilling alone (fat grafting).

[Lateral Intercostal Artery Perforator (LICAP) flap for lateral breast defect reconstruction].

Lateral breast defect after partial mastectomy is a difficult challenge. Pedicled perforator flap is a new indication for breast surgery. Perforator flaps and fat tissue transplant are new concepts in this kind of reconstruction.

Remission of Merkel cell tumor after somatostatin analog treatment.

We recently treated one patient presenting with a disseminated non-operable Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) by lanreotide (somatostatin analog), with a complete remission of the disease and a follow up of 17 months. We present in this paper a case report with a review of the utilization of somatostatin analogues in the treatment of MCC.

Thoracic actinomycosis presented with tracheoesophageal fistula and fatal pulmonary infection.

We report a case of a 60-year-old Saudi woman who developed tracheoesophageal fistula and fatal pulmonary infection secondary to thoracic actinomycosis. The cause, clinical presentation, radiological features and treatment of thoracic actinomycosis are discussed.
