Objective: To estimate the incidence and prevalence of deep venous thrombosis, and to evaluate the discriminative capacity of D-dimer in its diagnosis.
Methods: The prospective, observational study was conducted at the critical care unit of a tertiary care hospital in Pakistan from February to September 2021 and comprised consecutively admitted adult critically ill patients who were receiving therapeutic-dose anticoagulation therapy. All patients were screened on day one for deep venous thrombosis by colour doppler and compression ultrasonography.
Background: The proper estimation of depth of the orotracheal tube (OTT) in intubated patients is difficult. Several methods have been developed for proper estimation of the depth of OTT. The purpose of this study was to compare two commonly used formulae (21/23 rule and Chula formula) for proper estimation of depth of OTT in our Pakistani population.
