In vitro evaluation of anthelmintic activity of biocompatibile carbon quantum dot nanocomposite against egg and larval stages of equine strongyles.

Background: Strongyle nematodes pose a major challenge in veterinary parasitology, causing significant economic losses in livestock due to resistance to conventional treatments. Current anthelmintics, like Ivermectin, often encounter resistance issues. This study aims to address these gaps by synthesizing Carbon Quantum Dots (CQDs) and Copper-Doped CQDs (Cu@CQDs) using glucose extract, and evaluating their nematicidal properties against strongyles in vitro.

First report of infection in a domestic cat () in Iran.

A 6-year-old male domestic short-haired cat () was presented with weakness, anorexia, fever, icterus, a painful abdomen, ruffled hair and a tick infestation, and it had no prior surgery. Laboratory analysis revealed left-shifted neutrophils, thrombocytopenia, low albumin content and high serum bilirubin concentration as well as activities of hepatic enzymes including alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase. Azotemia and increased serum levels of creatinine and urea were also recorded.

Erythema elevatum diutinum (EED) is a chronic cutaneous leukocytoclastic vasculitis. This rare disease is characterized by red, brownish-purple, and yellow papules, plaques, and nodules distributed symmetrically about the extremities. There have been recent reports of the disease in association with infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
