Article Synopsis
  • - This study focused on how changing the timing and amount of nitrogen fertilizer affects apple tree growth, particularly in dwarf and arborized forms, by examining their nitrogen absorption and soil interaction over time.
  • - Findings indicated that excessive nitrogen application (HN) led to increased shoot growth but hindered root development, while the roots primarily relied on soil nitrogen, absorbing less than 50% of applied fertilizer nitrogen despite higher residues in the soil.
  • - Overall, the research revealed that summer applications of nitrogen were more efficient, with higher utilization and lower loss rates than spring applications, suggesting that managing nitrogen wisely can improve apple tree health and reduce waste.
