Complications and blood loss after invasive treatments for small renal masses: A systematic review.

Introduction: This systematic review and meta-analysis provides estimates of major complications and blood loss for open partial nephrectomy, conventional laparoscopic partial nephrectomy, and robot-assisted partial nephrectomy. Additionally, it outlines the incidence of major complications associated with percutaneous thermal ablation in patients with small renal masses.

Methods: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and CINAHL from inception to the end of July 2023.

Introduction: Sedation in mechanically ventilated adults in the intensive care unit (ICU) is commonly achieved with intravenous infusions of propofol, dexmedetomidine or benzodiazepines. Significant limitations associated with each can impact their usage. Inhaled isoflurane has potential benefit for ICU sedation due to its safety record, sedation profile, lack of metabolism and accumulation, and fast wake-up time.

Length of hospital stay and procedure time after partial nephrectomy or percutaneous thermal ablation: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Introduction: This systematic review addressed the length of hospital stay (LOS) and procedure time in patients with small renal masses (SRM) undergoing open, conventional laparoscopic (OPN), and robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN), as well as percutaneous thermal ablation (PTA) in different geographic areas.

Methods: We conducted a comprehensive search in databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL) until July 2023, and we applied random-effect meta-analysis, with evidence certainty assessed by the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) framework.

Results: We screened 3456 titles and abstracts, ultimately identifying 60 eligible studies.

Objectives: This study aims at exploring the effects of physicians' communication behaviors on patients' satisfaction in primary care medical consultations in Chattogram, Bangladesh. The study used a quantitative research approach designed with a cross-sectional survey.

Methods: Data were collected using post-consultation and facilitator administered questionnaire from the patients who visited the physician for medical consultation in different hospitals and clinics in Chattogram city.

Usability and Tolerability of Virtual Reality-Based Cognitive Stimulation in Healthy Elderly Volunteers-A Feasibility Clinical Trial.

The aim of the current pilot study was to evaluate the usability, acceptability, and tolerability of virtual reality (VR)-based cognitive stimulation exercises (CSEs) in healthy young versus old populations before health care integration. A secondary aim was to assess the accuracy of VR games as a proxy for cognitive stimulation, specifically for attention. VR-based CSEs promise to improve attention and brain function through varied learning systems.

Introduction: is an oncogenic driver, seen in around five per cent of advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, which can be targeted with anaplastic lymphoma kinase tyrosine kinase inhibitors with great response rates. Disease flare refers to sudden rapid disease worsening on tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) discontinuation, which is associated with shorter survival and worse outcomes. Here, we review cases previously published in the literature where patients developed disease flares, and contrast this with our patients who had prolonged survival despite TKI discontinuation.

Objectives: To assess the knowledge and attitude regarding breast cancer screening and mammograms among 40 years and older females in the United Arab Emirates.

Methods:  A cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted on women faculty, staff, and female patients attending our hospital. The inclusion criteria were women ≥ 40 years old who agreed to participate.

Extramedullary chronic lymphocytic leukemia disguised as urinary tract infection.

Extramedullary and nonlymphoid organ involvement in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is exceedingly rare, with only a few cases of bladder infiltration reported to date. Here, we present a case of a 71-year-old man with advanced-stage CLL who presented with gross hematuria initially thought to be secondary to a urinary tract infection. However, a cystoscopy with biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of extramedullary CLL with bladder involvement.
