A defining feature of exsolved nanocatalysts is their anchored metal-oxide interface, which exhibits exceptional structural stability in (electro)catalysis. However, the electronic interactions at this unique interface remain unclear, despite their known impact on catalytic performance.

While summary statistics are among the most efficient and convenient tools for exploring and describing sets of data, they are often overlooked in EDA. The chelating gadolinium-complex is routinely used as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) -contrast enhancer. However, several safety issues have recently been reported by FDA and PRAC. There is an urgent need for the next generation of safer MRI-contrast enhancers, with improved local contrast and targeting capabilities.

Morphological control of poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(epsilon-caprolactone) copolymer aggregates in aqueous solution.

In aqueous solution, it was found that the amphiphilic copolymer poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(caprolactone) (PEG(5000)-b-PCL(4100)) formed different morphologies, including long rod-like, short rod-like, or spherical aggregates, when the copolymer concentration was increased. Nearly identical morphologies were observed with the addition of increasing amounts of PEG(2000)-distearoylphosphoethanolamine (PEG(2000)-DSPE) to the copolymer. The morphologies of the aggregates in solution were confirmed by negative stain transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and cryogenic-TEM (cryo-TEM).

Does ethnicity affect need for mental health service among New Zealand prisoners?

Objective: The National Study on Psychiatric Morbidity in New Zealand Prisons identified undiagnosed mental illness and unmet treatment needs for mentally disordered offenders. As approximately 50% of prisoners are of Maori and 8.3% Pacific Island ethnicity, we analyzed the data to determine if there were any differences in the rates of major mental disorders between ethnic groups.

Prevalence of psychiatric disorders in New Zealand prisons: a national study.

Objective: The paper describes the methodologies and results obtained on a large cohort of prison inmates in New Zealand who were screened for psychiatric disorder.

Method: All women and remanded male inmates in New Zealand prisons, and a randomly selected cohort of 18% of sentenced male inmates were interviewed. Interviewers used the Composite International Diagnostic Interview - Automated to establish DSM-IV diagnoses, and the Personality Disorders Questionnaire to identify personality disorder.

Cummins (1995) offers an analysis of causal and truth-functional sufficiency and necessity to predict and explain the effects on conditional inferences of two pragmatic factors: alternative causes and disabling conditions. However, the justification of these predictions is inconsistent. This note offers a modified analysis which puts her predictions on a sounder base: it is proposed that alternative causes and disabling conditions affect judgments of argument validity under three different models for the causal conditional.

Improving schizophrenic in-patients' Wisconsin card-sorting performance.

The effectiveness of a training procedure to improve schizophrenic patients' Wisconsin Card Sorting Test performance was investigated. In the absence of the monetary incentive often employed, 10 schizophrenic in-patients' performance improved with training. This study provides further evidence that the cognitive deficiency associated with the frontal lobe, implied by schizophrenic patients' typically poor Wisconsin Card-Sorting Test performance, is remediable.

Psychiatric disorder and disability in New Zealand long-stay psychiatric patients.

A study was undertaken of the prevalence of physical disease, psychiatric disorder and deviant behaviour in a sample of 137 long stay psychiatric patients at Porirua Hospital near Wellington, New Zealand. Patients were in the main male, single, middle-aged to elderly and of European descent. Schizophrenia was the most common diagnosis.

Use of hormonal contraceptives in an institutional setting: reasons for use, consent and safety in women with psychiatric and intellectual disabilities.

Aim: To describe the use of hormonal contraceptives in institutionalised women with psychiatric and/or intellectual disabilities.
