Background: Plant cell walls are made of a complex network of interacting polymers that play a critical role in plant development and responses to environmental changes. Thus, improving plant biomass and fitness requires the elucidation of the structural organization of plant cell walls in their native environment. The C-based multi-dimensional solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (ssNMR) has been instrumental in revealing the structural information of plant cell walls through 2D and 3D correlation spectral analyses.

However, many of these GTs remain with unknown biochemical function due to numerous technical limitations. One of these limitations is the lack of innovative tools for large-scale screening of enzyme activity in vitro and testing protein-protein interactions (PPIs) between GT partners.

Cellulose and hemicellulose are the major structural β-glycan polysaccharides in cell walls of land plants. They are characterized by a backbone of β-(1,3)- and/or β-(1,4)-linked sugars such as glucose, mannose, or xylose. The backbones of these polymers are produced by processive glycosyltransferases (GTs) called synthases having multiple transmembrane domains anchoring them to the membrane.

However, demonstrating the activity of these GTs remains a challenge. Here, we describe the development of a rapid in vitro GT-array screening platform for activity of GTs.

Currently, it is unknown whether protein-protein interactions within these central cores are specific, how many such complexes exist, and whether these complexes are functionally redundant. Here, we used gene association network and co-expression approaches in rice to identify four OsGT43s and four OsGT47s that assemble into different GT43/GT47 complexes.

Great efforts are being made to develop materials for STWS with suitable operating conditions, low cost, and good cycling stability. In this context, the study of mixed cobalt and nickel oxides with the general formula Co Ni O (0 ≤ ≤ 1) was carried out, where four mixed metal oxides CoNiO, CoNiO, CoNiO, and CoNiO have been successfully synthesized through the sol-gel method modified Pechini route.

Traditional mass spectrometry (MS)-based methods for glycoconjugate analysis are challenged with poor intensity when dealing with complex biological samples. We developed a desalting paper spray mass spectrometry (DPS-MS) strategy to overcome the issue of signal suppression of carbohydrates in salted buffer.

Cereal crops, such as Hordeum vulgare (barley) and Sorghum bicolor (sorghum), are among the most important plants to civilization. However, co-expression network tools for these plants are lacking.

From molecular dynamics and Raman spectroscopy, we show that the atomic structure at the short and intermediate length scales is made up of long polymerized silicate chains, which adjusts itself by closing the Si-O-Si angles and leaving more space to [CaO] edge shared polyhedra to strengthen the glass. Using Brillouin spectroscopy, we observe an increase of elastic constants of the glass with the calcium content, as the cohesion of the glass structure is enhanced through an increase of the binding between the cross-linked calcium-silicate frameworks.

In this review, we discuss new advances in the secretion of EXT monomers and the molecular drivers of EXT network self-assembly. Many of the functions of EXTs are conferred through covalent crosslinking into the wall, so we also discuss the different types of known intermolecular crosslinks, the enzymes that are involved, as well as the potential for additional crosslinks that are yet to be identified.

In this work it is demonstrated that hydrophobic flexible nanoporous materials can be used for thermal-to-mechanical energy conversion when coupled with water. In particular, a reversible nonhysteretic wetting-drying (contraction-expansion) cycle provoked by periodic temperature fluctuations was realized for water and a superhydrophobic nanoporous Cu(tebpz) MOF (tebpz = 3,3',5,5'-tetraethyl-4,4'-bipyrazolate).

There is reported interplay between IFN-γ and glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3), a kinase which has been implicated in both cell death and, conversely, cell survival. Thus, we utilized the CML-derived HAP1 cell line and a mutant HAP1 GSK-3β knocked-down cell line (GSK-3β 31bp) to investigate whether GSK-3 modulates IFN-γ's action on CML cells.

Unlike regular paper spray ionization (PSI) and nanoelectrospray ionization (nanoESI), DPS-MS allows fast and sensitive detection of oligosaccharides in biological samples having complex matrices (e.

The low temperature-induced effects are exacerbated when plants are exposed to low temperatures in the presence of high light irradiance but the experimental data on the impact of light intensity during cold stress and its influence during recovery from stress are rather limited. The main objective of this study was to re-examine the photosynthetic responses of A.

Therefore, the field would benefit from development of adequate high throughput expression as well as product detection and characterization techniques. Here we review current approaches to tackle such obstacles and suggest a new path forward: nucleic acid programmable protein arrays (NAPPA) with liquid sample desorption ionization (LS-DESI-MS) mass spectrometry.
