Objectives/hypothesis: To assess the efficacy of 0.23% povidone-iodine (PVP-I) nasal rinses and mouth washes on detectability of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) virus and cycle threshold (Ct) values in nasopharyngeal swabs.
Study Design: This was an open-label, prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial.
Background: Over the last few decades, reflux diseases, such as laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), have been identified as significant contributors to inflammatory upper aerodigestive tract diseases. Establishing a direct relationship between reflux disease and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is challenging due to the high prevalence of both diseases and their potential for independent coexistence.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to review the existing literature and evaluate the evidence of an association between reflux diseases and CRS.
Objectives: To aimed to determine the incidence of complications of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) and to investigate the factors associated with the occurrence of complications.
Methods: In this retrospective study, we reviewed the medical records of all patients who had undergone ESS at King Saud University Medical City (KSUMC) between January 2015 and March 2022. Patients who underwent ESS for complicated acute sinusitis, sinonasal malignancy, and cerebrospinal fluid leak repair, and those who underwent extended ESS for indications other than chronic rhinosinusitis were excluded.
Background: The general health and well-being of medical students has become a matter of concern, as medical students have higher levels of stress than their nonmedical peers. Long-standing stress may lead to serious outcomes, such as depression, anxiety, poor quality of life, or adjustment disorders. This study aimed to estimate the proportion of first year medical students who have adjustment disorder and explore possible risk factors.
