Purpose: Clopidogrel non-responsiveness is multifactorial; several genetic and non-genetic factors may contribute to impaired platelet inhibition. The goal of this study is to determine the effect of the cytochrome P450 CYP2C19*2 polymorphism on the platelet response to clopidogrel in patients with and without diabetes mellitus (DM).

Methods: We conducted an observational study in patients with coronary artery disease and consequent exposure to clopidogrel therapy (75 mg/day for at least 7 consecutive days).

The role of alpha-tocopherol on nephrotoxicity and hepatotoxicity induced by methamidophos (MT) was investigated in wistar rats. Animals were given via gavage, for four weeks, a low dose of MT (MT1), a high dose of MT (MT2), vitamin E (200 mg/kg of bw) or both MT2 plus vitamin E (Vit E) and control group was given distillate water. MT treatment resulted in a significant decrease in the body weight of MT2-treated group.

The aim of this study was to determine the impact of combat sports practice on bone mineral density (BMD) and to analyze the relationship between bone parameters and anthropometric measurements, bone markers, and activity index (AI). In other words, to detect the most important determinant of BMD in the adolescent period among combat sports athletes. Fifty athletes engaged in combat sports, mean age 17.

The aim of this study was firstly to investigate the correlation between bone parameters and grip strength (GS) in hands, explosive legs power (ELP), and hormonal parameters; second, to identify the most determinant variables of bone mineral density (BMD) among adolescent combat sport athletes. Fifty combat sport athletes aged 17.1 ± 0.

Biomonitoring of effects in agricultural workers is necessary to assess the individual risk of handling pesticides. In this study, biochemical and haematological parameters were measured to evaluate the effects of exposure to these compounds in agricultural workers. The study was carried out in 110 workers and 97 control subjects.

We studied the influence of some factors on plasma butyrylcholinesterase activity (BChE) and we assessed the health status of agricultural workers and looked for the effects of chronic exposure to pesticides, in the aim to determinate factors that must be considered for interpretation of BChE, for occupational monitoring of workers exposed to pesticides. The study was carried out in 110 workers from the Sahel region of Tunisia exposed to pesticides and in 97 controls. All individuals have undergone clinical examination.

Objectives: Agricultural workers chronically exposed to complex mixtures of pesticides are at increased risk of acute and chronic toxicity of these compounds. Enzyme activities are among the biomarkers that may be used to detect the effects of pesticides before adverse clinical health effects occur. The aims of this study were to ascertain the relationships between paraoxonase 1 (PON1) and other serum enzymes and to investigate whether long-term exposure to pesticides affects these relationships in Tunisian agricultural workers.
