Background: Pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis (PPFE) has no currently available specific treatment. Benefits of lung transplantation (LT) for PPFE are poorly documented.
Methods: We conducted a nation-wide multicentric retrospective study in patients who underwent lung or heart-lung transplantation for chronic end-stage lung disease secondary to PPFE between 2012 and 2022 in France.

Background: The French national protocol for controlled donation after circulatory determination of death (cDCD) includes normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) in case of abdominal organ procurement and additional ex-vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) before considering lung transplantation (LT).
Methods: We made a retrospective study of a prospective registry that included all donors considered for cDCD LT from the beginning of the program in May 2016 to November 2021.
Results: One hundred grafts from 14 donor hospitals were accepted by 6 LT centers.
Hidrocystomas are benign lesions with frequent localization on the eyelids and common appearance as isolated translucent cystic lesions. The multiple and bilateral localization has been associated with systemic diseases or epidermodysplasia. The histological and ultrastructural study contributes to the distinction in eccrine or apocrine.

The objective was to report characteristics, management, and outcomes of patients receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation with a diagnosis of COVID-19 in France and to identify pre-extracorporeal membrane oxygenation factors associated with in-hospital mortality. A hypothesis of similar mortality rates and risk factors for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients on venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation was made.

COVID-19 complications are attributed to the role of thrombo-inflammation. Studies regarding the use of low-dose ASA in COVID-19 are limited.

Methods: This was a retrospective single centre study. All LEVAR and Zenith (Cook) CM stent graft procedures between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2018 were reviewed.
Objective: The objective of our study was to evaluate if functional training with the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) can reduce the risk of a new injury for patients that underwent an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR). Our hypothesis was that the functional training might reduce the risk of a new injury.
Methods: Our training protocol consisted of six phases, each one lasting six weeks.
While using a prosthesis, transtibial amputees can experience pain and discomfort brought on by large pressure gradients at the interface between the residual limb and the prosthetic socket. Current prosthetic interface solutions attempt to alleviate these pressure gradients using soft homogenous liners to reduce and distribute pressures. This research investigates an additively manufactured metamaterial inlay with a tailored mechanical response to reduce peak pressure gradients around the limb.

While many patients experience mild to moderate symptoms, severely affected patients often progress to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Specific to COVID-19, abnormal coagulability appears to be a principal instigator in the progression of disease severity and mortality.

This unique effect of ultrasound has been extensively applied in welding, machining, forming of metals, and ultrasonic additive manufacturing to lower the yield stress necessary to initiate plastic deformation, it nevertheless lacks fundamental investigation. Some prior studies showed experimental errors due to the design of experimental setups and the associated testing methods that have been introduced, leading to questions about their observations and conclusions.

We reviewed echocardiography and catheterization data of 192 patients from the Stanford ALD registry and echocardiograms of 50 healthy controls. Accuracy of echocardiographic right heart metrics to detect PH was assessed using logistic regression and area under the ROC curves (AUC) analysis.

It is mostly associated with previous trauma, surgery, immunosuppression therapy and systemic disease. We present the first documented case of a spontaneous bifocal disruption of the knee extensor apparatus (i.

This has changed the way in which men having have sex with men (MSM) seek sexual partners and has increased the number of high-risk sexual encounters. Therefore, developers of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-prevention interventions have also started using the Internet as a viable medium to promote safe sexual behaviors.

The online HIV Treatment, Virtual Nursing Assistance and Education (Virus de I'immunodéficience Humaine-Traitement Assistance Virtuelle Infirmière et Enseignement; VIH-TAVIE™) intervention was developed to provide persons living with HIV (PLHIV) with personalized follow-up and real-time support in managing their medication intake on a daily basis. An online randomized controlled trial (RCT) will be conducted to evaluate the efficacy of this intervention primarily in optimizing adherence to combination anti-retroviral therapy (ART) among PLHIV.

The 9-repetition allele (9R) located in the 3' untranslated region of the dopamine transporter (DAT) gene (SLC6A3) is more frequent among PTSD patients. In vivo molecular imaging studies have shown that healthy 9R carriers have increased striatal DAT binding.

Closed injuries of extensor hallucis longus (EHL) tendon are uncommon and rarely reported. We present a patient who had an extensor hallucis longus tendon rupture which we believe to be related to the presence of a talar neck osteophyte. This was treated surgically with a satisfactory outcome.

Methods: Between May 1999 and December 2003, 37 feet undergoing basal closing wedge osteotomy were stabilised using Acutrak screw. The minimum follow-up period was 18 months.
