We predicted miRNAs with regulatory impact on NFKB1 and TRAF6 gene expression and selected the miR-194-5p, miR-124-3p, miR-9-5p, and miR-340-5p and their target genes for expression analyses on CD14+ monocytes from rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and healthy controls. Additionally, we evaluated the influence of genes and miRNA expression on RA patients' cytokine levels. No difference was observed in genes or miRNAs expression when compared to healthy controls and RA patients or clinical parameters.

The mechanisms underlying unsatisfactory immune reconstitution in HIV-1 positive patients under ART have not been fully elucidated, even after years of investigation. Thus, this study aimed to assess the correlation between age and thymic production profile, and its influence on inadequate immunological recovery. Here, 44 ART-treated patients with undetectable plasma HIV-1 load (<40 copies/mL) were classified as 31 immunological responders (IR) and 13 immunological non-responders (INR), according to their CD4+ T-cell count after 18 months of ART.

Decades of studies in antiretroviral therapy (ART) have passed, and the mechanisms that determine impaired immunological recovery in HIV-positive patients receiving ART have not been completely elucidated yet. Thus, T-lymphocytes immunophenotyping and cytokines levels were analyzed in 44 ART-treated HIV-positive patients who had a prolonged undetectable plasma viral load. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a well-known chronic inflammatory disorder. Two molecular players act in the inflammation balance of the disease: MyD88 (Myeloid differentiation primary response 88) is related to TLR (Toll-like receptors) response and promotes the formation of myddosome complex resulting in increased inflammation; IRAK3 (Interleukin-1 receptor associated kinase 3) acts suppressing the myddosome complex thus decreasing inflammation. The present study describes the use of fucoidan, a negative sulfated polysaccharide, as a coating material for the development of liposomes targeted to macrophages infected with . First, fucoidan was chemically modified to obtain a hydrophobized-fucoidan derivative (cholesteryl-fucoidan) using a two-step microwave-assisted (μW) method. The total reaction time was decreased from 14 hours to 1 hour while maintaining the overall yield.
