This paper presents a procedure that digitally neutralizes the contribution of paraffin to FTIR hyperspectral images. A brief mathematical derivation of the procedure is demonstrated and applied on one normal human colon sample to exemplify the de-waxing procedure. The proposed method includes construction of a paraffin model based on PCA, EMSC normalization and application of two techniques for spectral quality control.

The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of Er:YAG laser pulse repetition rate on the thermal alterations occurring during laser ablation of sound and demineralized primary dentin. Objectives: To assess color stability and opacity associated with the degree of conversion of a pre-heated nanohybrid composite (Tetric N-Ceram, Ivoclar/Vivadent, Schaan, Liechtenstein).

Methods: Twenty-seven specimens were prepared (n=9) using a Teflon matrix following storage of compules containing the composite at temperatures of 8°C, 25°C or 60°C.
