Latissimus Dorsi Transfer to Irreparable Anterosuperior Lesions to the Rotator Cuff: Description of Surgical Technique.

Lesions to the shoulder rotator cuff may have several configurations, and are divided and classified according to the size of the lesion, the tendon involved, its combinations and whether there is possibility of repair. Irreparable subscapular lesions, as well as irreparable anterosuperior lesions, may generate shoulder dysfunction due to loss of humeral head depressants, causing pain and functional limitation. Radiographic Evaluation of the Consolidation of Humerus Surgical Neck Fractures Treated With Percutaneous Fixation.

 To evaluate radiographically the postoperative results of patients with fracture of the proximal humerus in two parts of the surgical neck treated with threaded percutaneous fixation.  We evaluated the radiographic results of percutaneous fixation with threaded pins on the treatment of proximal humerus fractures in our service. Preoperative and postoperative images of 42 patients were evaluated, evaluating radiographs until 8 weeks postoperatively.

Comparative Evaluation of Coracoid Graft Dimensions in the Latarjet Surgery for Anterior Glenohumeral Instability.

 The aim of the present study was to describe the dimensions of the coracoid grafts in our Latarjet surgeries and compare them with the results described in the literature. In addition, the feasibility of the 7-millimeter rule was verified.  Individuals with anterior glenohumeral instability with or without bone loss participated in the present study.

Application of three-dimensional prototyping in planning the treatment of proximal humerus bone deformities.

Objective: To describe the use of three-dimensional prototyping or rapid prototyping in acrylic resin to create synthetic three-dimensional models in order to promote the understanding of bone deformities of the shoulder.

Methods: Five patients were analyzed between ages of 11 and 73 years old, treated between 2008 and 2013 with glenohumeral deformities that required a more thorough review of the anatomical alterations, for whom three-dimensional prototyping was performed.

Results: Patient 1 was treated conservatively and is awaiting humeral head arthroplasty if symptoms get worse.

We describe a unique complication during primary posterior continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis (PCCC) in a patient with megalocornea scheduled for phacoemulsification with toric multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. After nucleus emulsification and cortex removal, the capsular bag was filled with cohesive viscoelastic in preparation for PCCC to achieve reverse optic capture of the IOL, thus ensuring stability. However, as soon as the initial puncture was made using a 27-gauge needle to start the capsulotomy, the posterior capsule opening extended peripherally from 0º-180º.
