Prognostic and health management technologies are increasingly important in many fields where reducing maintenance costs is critical. Non-destructive testing techniques and the Internet of Things (IoT) can help create accurate, two-sided digital models of specific monitored objects, enabling predictive analysis and avoiding risky situations. This study focuses on a particular application: monitoring an endodontic file during operation to develop a strategy to prevent breakage.

Methods: Overall, 256 canals (two for each mandibular molar) were prepared using Reciproc R25 instruments. A total of 96 25-mm-long Reciproc R25 instruments were divided in six groups (N.
In the present work, a spar-buoy scaled model was designed and built through a "Lab-on-Sea" unit, equipped with an energy harvesting system. Such a system is based on deformable bands, which are loyal to the unit, to convert wave motion energy into electricity by means of piezo patch transducers. In a preliminary stage, the scaled model, suitable for tests in a controlled ripples-type wave motion channel, was tested in order to verify the "fixed-point" assumption in pitch and roll motions and, consequently, to optimize energy harvesting.

Sixty new files were tested at 90°, 70° and 45° of inclination in relation to the sample (n = 10), using a customised machine. All files were activated in reciprocation against standardised gypsum blocks for 120 s.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the torsional and cyclic fatigue resistance of the new Hyflex EDM OneFile (Coltene/Whaledent AG, Altstatten, Switzerland) manufactured by electrical discharge machining and compare the findings with the ones of Reciproc R25 (VDW, Munich, Germany) and WaveOne Primary (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland).
Methods: One hundred-twenty new Hyflex EDM OneFile (#25/0.08), Reciproc R25, and WaveOne Primary files were used.
This concise paper discusses poly(ferrocenylsilane) (PFS)-based organometallic gels and hydrogels as a novel class of redox-responsive materials. First, the use of silicon-bridged spirocyclic [1]ferrocenophane crosslinkers for creating PFS networks swellable in organic solvents is described. Optical properties of PFS composite colloidal crystal films, composed of monodisperse silica spheres embedded in such PFS networks, are shown to be influenced by solvent swelling or redox chemistry, allowing the use of these composites in photonic crystal full-color displays.
