The enteric glia, a neural crest-derived cell type that composes the Enteric Nervous System, is involved in controlling gut functions, including motility, gut permeability, and neuronal communication. Moreover this glial cell could to give rise to new neurons. It is believed that enteric neurons are generated up to 21 days postnatally; however, adult gut cells with glial characteristics can give rise to new enteric neurons under certain conditions.

The current study aimed to investigate the seroprevalence of IgG antibodies to Anaplasma marginale in cattle from Maputo, Gaza and Inhambane provinces, south Mozambique. A total of 809 serum samples from cattle were obtained and tested by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (i-ELISA). The chi-square test at 5% significance was used to assess the association between seroprevalence and the variables gender, age and geographic origin of animals.

Artificial feeding is an important toll for studying ticks feeding mechanism and transmission of pathogenic agents in the absence of vertebrate host. The objective was to feed artificially of engorged partially females of Dermacentor (Anocentor) nitens, proceeding of infested naturally equines and evaluate the influence of this technique on biological parameters of species. With the objective of studying the development, survival and the distribution of the infective larvae of gastrointestinal nematodes of domestic ruminant, in the period characterized as dry for the area of the Fluminense lowland, RJ, the artificial contamination of the pasture was accomplished with fecal samples of bovine, caprine and ovine, naturally infected. One week after, began the sampling of the faecal masses and of the grass around the same ones, with biweekly repetitions. Larvae of the genus Haemonchus and Trichostrongylus were recovered in the grass contaminated with bovine faeces still 21 weeks after deposit; in the contaminated samples with caprine faeces, the same genus were recovered still 15 weeks after contamination.
