This study analyzed the relationship between household socioeconomic status and local social conditions and risk of death in Brazilian youth 15 to 29 years of age. Mortality data from the previous 12 months collected by the 2010 Population Census were used for the analysis at the local level. Data analysis was based on hierarchical models that allowed identifying the role of household social conditions and municipality and state of residence on mortality in young Brazilians.
