Question: How effective is an e-learning program based on international clinical guidelines in promoting beliefs more aligned with the current evidence for the management of low back pain among physiotherapists?

Design: Randomised controlled trial with concealed allocation and intention-to-treat analysis.

Participants: 106 physiotherapists who treat patients with low back pain.

Interventions: The experimental group received access to an e-learning program, based on recommendations of clinical practice guidelines for the management of low back pain, over a 6-week period.

Background: Low back pain significantly impacts global health, particularly in low-income areas where primary care challenges are prevalent. Assessing both biophysical and psychological factors associated with low back pain-related disability is crucial for developing effective screening and management strategies.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the association between fear of movement, trunk mobility, pain intensity, physical activity, and low back pain-related disability, and to identify key factors contributing to higher disability levels in patients with chronic low back pain.

Introduction: The EQ-5D-Y-3L is a generic measure of health-related quality of life in children and adolescents. Although the Brazilian-Portuguese EQ-5D-Y-3L version is available, there is no value set for it, hampering its use in economic evaluations. This study aimed to elicit a Brazilian EQ-5D-Y-3L value set based on preferences of the general adult population.

The Lancet Low Back Pain (LBP) Series highlighted the lack of LBP data from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The study aimed to describe (1) LBP care is currently delivered in LMICs and (2) that care is delivered. An online mixed-methods study.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of a randomized controlled trial investigating the effectiveness of a multimodal program (PAT-Back) compared to best practice advice on pain and disability in older adults with chronic low back pain (LBP) in primary care.

Methods: This feasibility study took place in Fortaleza, Northeast Brazil. The PAT-Back intervention consisted of a program including exercises, pain education, and motivational text messages for the in-home component.

Introduction: Lifestyle Medicine comprises six domains: diet, substance use, physical activity, stress management, social connection, and sleep. The comprehensive assessment of lifestyle is challenging, but the "Short Multidimensional Inventory on Lifestyle Evaluation" (SMILE) was developed to fill out this gap. In this paper, we describe the development and the psychometric properties (internal consistency, concurrent and convergent validity) of a shorter version of the SMILE among university students.

Background: Although the literature describes a favorable course of low back pain (LBP) in adults, little information is available for older adults. LBP is prevalent and complex in older adults, and the analysis of its trajectories may contribute to the improvement of therapeutic approaches.

Objective: To describe pain and disability trajectories in older adults with a new episode of LBP.

Aims: To identify the prevalence, clinical and functional factors associated with urinary symptoms (US) in community-dwelling older adults with acute low back pain (LBP).

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of data's baseline of Back Complaints in the Elders Consortium. All elders had LPB heightened.

Objective: To identify the beliefs and attitudes of students in four health courses about chronic low back pain (CLBP) management, and to investigate personal and undergraduate training-related factors associated with their beliefs.

Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted with 173 Brazilian medicine, physiotherapy, nursing and pharmacy students. Participants provided information on age, personal experience with LPB, training or class on CLBP management, and contact with patients with CLBP, followed by their first therapeutic choices.

Low back pain (LBP) can be less disabling in those who are physically active. This study analyzed the association between physical activity (PA)- and LBP-related disability in older people with LBP, exploring if this association was mediated by depressive symptoms. The authors analyzed the relationship between PA levels and disability using the short version of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire and the Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire, respectively, collected at baseline from the Brazilian Back Complaints in the Elders study.

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is a growing public health problem in old age, and it is associated with disabling pain and depressive disorders. We compared brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) plasma levels, a key neurotrophin in pain modulation, between older women after an acute episode of LBP and age-matched pain-free controls, and investigated potential differences in BDNF levels between controls and LBP subgroups based on pain severity, presence of depressive symptoms and use of analgesic and antidepressant drugs.

Methods: A total of 221 participants (154 with LBP and 67 pain-free) were studied.
