Antithrombotic therapy in atrial flutter: To anticoagulate or not, that is the question.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) represents an arrhythmia fraught with significant morbidity, mortality, and financial burden for the health care system. Less attention is given to atrial flutter (AFL), which may occur as a stand-alone arrhythmia or coexist with AF in the same patient. Moreover, it is known that AF frequently develops after AFL ablation.

Capillary Refill Time as a Part of Routine Physical Examination in Critically Ill Patients Undergoing Vasoactive Therapy: A Prospective Study.

In critically ill patients, achieving a mean arterial pressure (MAP) of 65 mmHg is a recommended resuscitation goal to ensure proper tissue oxygenation. Unfortunately, some patients do not benefit from providing such a value, suggesting that other indices are needed for better hemodynamic assessment. Capillary refill time (CRT) has emerged as an established marker for peripheral perfusion and a therapeutic target in critical illness, but its relationship with other exponents of hypoperfusion during vasopressor support after resuscitation period still warrants further research.

Clinical Characteristics of Atrial Flutter and Its Response to Pharmacological Cardioversion with Amiodarone in Comparison to Atrial Fibrillation.

Background: Unlike atrial fibrillation (AF), atrial flutter (AFl) is thought to be relatively refractory to pharmacological cardioversion (PC), but the evidence is scarce. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical characteristics and efficacy of the PC of AFl with amiodarone in comparison to AF.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study covered 727 patients with urgent consult for AF/AFl in a high-volume emergency department between 2015 and 2018.
