For this reason, the aim of this study was to investigate the associations between work-family balance, need satisfaction, depression, anger, vitality and sleep-wake problems, using Self-determination Theory (SDT) as a theoretical framework.

Ecology is a key driver of morphological evolution during adaptive radiations, but alternative factors like phylogeny and allometry can have a strong influence on morphology. Lepidosaurs, the most diverse clade of tetrapods, including lizards and snakes, have evolved a remarkable variety of forms and adapted to disparate ecological niches, representing an ideal case study to understand drivers of morphological evolution. Here, we quantify morphological variation in the lower jaw using three-dimensional geometric morphometrics on a broad sample of 153 lepidosaur species.

The inside-out submitochondrial particles (IO-SMPs) showed a strong protective effect against mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) opening in mitochondria isolated from swine hearts 3 h after explantation. The latter condition was used to emulate situation of mitochondrial damage. We identified that the protective effect of IO-SMPs cannot be attributed to a functional modulation of the enzymatic complexes involved in mPTP formation.

Music cue during slow wave sleep improves visuospatial memory consolidation.

The active system consolidation theory assumes that sleep between encoding and retrieval promotes memory consolidation. In the present study, we cued new memories during slow-wave (SWS) or rapid eye movements (REM) sleep stages by presenting an instrumental music stimuli that had been previously presented during a learning session. In a within-subjects design, 18 participants slept for three nonconsecutive nights (cue during SWS, cue during REM, and no cue during control night) and were trained in a visuo-spatial memory task.

Discriminant Analysis as a Tool to Classify Grasslands Based on Near-Infrared Spectra.

This study aims to classify plant communities by applying discriminant analysis based on principal components (DAPC) on near-infrared spectra (FT-NIRS) starting from fresh herbage samples. Grassland samples (~156) belonged to (i) recent alfalfa pure crops (CAA), (ii) recent grass-legume mixtures (GLM), (iii) permanent meadows derived from old alfalfa stands that were re-colonized (PMA), and iv) permanent meadows originated from old grass-legume mixtures (PLM). Samples were scanned using FT-NIRS, and a multivariate exploration of the original spectra was performed using DAPC.
