Amid heightened political polarization in the United States, have politics worked their way into the bedroom? An increase in political similarity between romantic partners has consequences not just for romantic relationships but for society as a whole; political homophily increases our political echo chambers and affects future generations. We drew upon 11 data sets with over 4,000 individuals (including more than 500 couples) to test four preregistered research questions about the prevalence, correlates, consequences, and potential buffers of political dissimilarity in modern-day relationships. Across measures of similarity (overall perceptions, partisanship matching, shared political ideology), couples in our sample showed high levels of political similarity (e.

Uterine-sparing surgery for pelvic organ prolapse (POP) repair has shown good results, but the potential negative implications of leaving the uterus in place are yet to be fully defined. We aimed to assess the risk of unanticipated abnormal gynecological pathology at the time of reconstructive pelvic surgery. A retrospective consecutive case series including women who underwent vaginal hysterectomy for POP repair at a tertiary medical center in 2006-2020.

Corpus luteum hemorrhage (CLH) is generally asymptomatic but may, rarely, lead to severe intraperitoneal bleeding, mostly in patients with coagulation disorders. CLH causing intraperitoneal bleeding has only been described in few individuals with ITP.

Objective: To determine if women who undergo vaginal hysterectomy for pelvic floor prolapse repair without concomitant opportunistic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy are at increased risk of further complications related to the remaining adnexa later in life.
Study Design: The database of a tertiary university medical center was searched for all women who underwent vaginal hysterectomy as part of the treatment for pelvic organ prolapse, without opportunistic adnexectomy, from 2006 to 2015 to provide adequate time for long-term evaluation. Demographic and clinical data including surgeries performed during the long-term follow-up were collected from all medical insurer electronic medical records.
Cesarean section has been practiced since the 2nd millennium BC. It received its name due to the manner of the birth of Julius Caesar, who allegedly yet incorrectly, was born in this way. The main indications for Cesarean section were "king's law" for the implementation of inheritance rights and later because of the doctrine of the Catholic Church that mandated separate burial of the fetus for the purpose of his soul to reach heaven after being baptized.

The importance of belowground net primary productivity (BNPP) associated with fine and coarse root growth also changes but remains the dominant component of overall productivity in these important blue carbon wetlands. Appropriate BNPP assessment techniques to use in various tidal wetlands are not well-defined, and could make a difference in BNPP estimation.

Despite growing understanding of factors controlling mangrove forest soil carbon stocks, there is a need to advance understanding of the speed of peat development beneath maturing mangrove forests, especially in created and restored mangrove forests that are intended to compensate for ecosystem functions lost during mangrove forest conversion to other land uses. To better quantify the rate of soil organic matter development beneath created, maturing mangrove forests, we measured ecosystem changes across a 25-yr chronosequence.

Long-term carbon storage in coastal wetlands occurs primarily belowground as soil organic matter (SOM). In addition to serving as a carbon sink, SOM influences wetland ecosystem structure, function, and stability.

Mangrove wetlands are also valuable ecosystems for promoting carbon (C) sequestration and storage. However, loss of mangrove wetlands and these ecosystem services are a global concern, prompting the restoration and creation of mangrove wetlands as a potential solution.

Objective: To provide data on the anatomical dimensions of adult female genitalia and to investigate the possible association of vulvar morphology and sexual function.
Study Design: This cross-sectional prospective cohort study, using measurements of the external genitalia was performed in a day-care unit of a tertiary, university-affiliated medical center from 2013 to 2014. Thirty-two premenopausal women aged 20-51 years, undergoing gynecological procedures under general anesthesia (not involving the external genitalia) were asked to respond to both a local general data questionnaire and a validated sexual function questionnaire (PISQ-12).
Introduction: We investigated parameters associated with recurrence after partial (Le Fort) colpocleisis surgery for severe pelvic organ prolapse (POP) in elderly women.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study included all women who underwent partial colpocleisis in a single tertiary center from February 2007 through July 2013 for stage 3 or 4 triple compartment prolapse. Inclusion criteria were age over 60, sexually inactive, medical comorbidities, increased risk for comprehensive reconstructive pelvic surgery, and refusal or failure to use a pessary as a conservative non-surgical treatment.
Prosody can be described as the rhythmic, dynamic, and melodic aspects of language. Swedish has a relatively complex prosodic system compared to, for example, English. A large percentage of Swedish children with language impairment show prosodic problems to some extent.

Background: In the last three decades, systemic methotrexate (MTX) has become widely accepted as the primary treatment for unruptured tubal pregnancy. This has prompted investigations into the use of MTX in the management of interstitial pregnancy.
Aim: To determine the effectiveness of methotrexate for treatment of interstitial pregnancy.
Across the globe, species distributions are changing in response to climate change and land use change. In parts of the southeastern United States, climate change is expected to result in the poleward range expansion of black mangroves (Avicennia germinans) at the expense of some salt marsh vegetation. The morphology of A.

We hypothesized that simultaneous delivery of IGF+HGF combined with Sca-1+/CD31- cells would improve the outcome of transplantation therapy in response to the altered hostile microenvironment post MI. One million adenovirus nuclear LacZ-labeled Sca-1+/CD31- cells were injected into the peri-infarction area after left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) ligation in mice.

Objective: To determine the accuracy and the delay in diagnosis of presumed acute appendicitis in pregnancy.
Methods: Pregnant women undergoing appendectomy for presumed acute appendicitis were compared to non-pregnant age-matched women in a 3:1 ratio undergoing appendectomy in a tertiary medical center from 2001 to 2012.
Results: Out of 1618 women who underwent appendectomy during the study period, 81 (4.

In animal models of myocardial infarction (MI), transplantation of various types of progenitor cells has been reported to (i) improve left ventricular (LV) function, (ii) decrease LV remodeling, (iii) limit fibrosis of noninfarcted LV regions, and (iv) in some cases, reduce infarct scar size. Moreover, in some reports these beneficial effects were present despite very low rates of long-term engraftment and transdifferentiation of transplanted cells into cardiomyocytes. In contrast, in other reports, significant numbers of transplanted cells do appear to have transdifferentiated into cardiomyocytes and vascular cells.

Background: There is no proven therapy for HFpEF. In the absence of data, medicines with established benefit in HFrEF such as vasodilators are frequently prescribed for HFpEF.
