The angiosperm seed represents a critical evolutionary breakthrough that has been shown to propel the reproductive success and radiation of flowering plants. Seeds promote the rapid diversification of angiosperms by establishing postzygotic reproductive barriers, such as hybrid seed inviability. While prezygotic barriers to reproduction tend to be transient, postzygotic barriers are often permanent and therefore can play a pivotal role in facilitating speciation.

Given the limited focus on females in previous studies, this research aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary curcumin on obesity and NAFLD outcomes in naturally aged (18-month-old) female mice.
Methods: Female C57BL/6 mice aged 18 months were fed a normal chow diet (NCD) and a HFHSD, with or without curcumin (0.

These tissues, known as the reproductive tract (ReT), comprise the stigma, style, and transmitting tract (TT). The ReT and ovules originate from the carpel margin meristem (CMM) within the pistil.

Objectives: This scoping review was conducted to identify opportunities and barriers to implementing pharmacist-driven CGM services in the community and ambulatory care setting.
REM (reproductive meristem) transcription factors have been proposed as regulators of plant reproductive development mainly based on their specific expression patterns in reproductive structures, but their roles are still largely unknown probably because of their redundancy. We selected three REM genes (REM13, REM34 and REM46) for functional analysis, based on their genome position and/or co-expression data. Our results suggest that these genes have a role in flowering time regulation and may modulate cell cycle progression.

Background And Purpose: Describe the design, implementation, and value of a travel medicine pharmacy elective. Students translated skills from rotations and practice environments addressing travel health-related needs. Content and educational outcomes align with the Center for the Advancement of Pharmacy Education, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and Pharmacists' Patient Care Process core components of student learning and assessment.

We explored the effects of active vitamin-D (calcitriol) treatment on left ventricular mass in patients with type-2 diabetes (T2D) and chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Methods: We performed a 48-week duration single center randomized double-blind parallel group trial examining the impact of calcitriol, 0.

Introduction: The most significant articles on diabetes pharmacotherapy and technology in the peer-reviewed literature from 2020, as determined by a panel of pharmacists with expertise in diabetes care and education, are summarized.
Areas Covered: Members of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists Pharmacy Community of Interest were selected to review articles published in prominent peer-reviewed journals in 2020 that most impacted diabetes pharmacotherapy and technology. A list of 37 nominated articles were compiled (22 in diabetes pharmacotherapy and 15 in diabetes technology).
Background: Depression and obesity have a bidirectional relationship making the management of one, without the other, problematic. Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) are a preferred medication class for diabetes and obesity treatment given their weight loss effect; however, it is not known how antidepressants impact this effect.
Objective: To assess the impact of antidepressant use on GLP-1 RA-associated weight loss in patients with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Electronic sports, or esports, has a global audience of over 300 million fans and is increasing in popularity, resulting in projected revenue of over $1 billion by the end of this past year. The global pandemic of 2020 had little to no effect on these increasing numbers because athletes have been able to continue to engage in sports because of its electronic nature and fans have been able to follow them virtually. Esports has been recognized as an organized sport by the International Olympic Committee, the US National Collegiate Athletic Association, and several secondary school athletic associations within the United States.

While multiple myocardial perfusion imaging modalities exist, the high spatial and temporal resolution of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR), combined with its freedom from ionising radiation make it an attractive option. Dynamic contrast enhanced CMR perfusion imaging has become a well-validated non-invasive tool for the assessment and risk stratification of patients with coronary artery disease and is recommended by international guidelines.

Ischemic scar tissue can cause stress perfusion defects that do not represent myocardial ischemia. Dark-blood late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) methods detect more scar than conventional bright-blood LGE, however, the impact on the myocardial ischemic burden estimation is unknown and evaluated in this study.

Introduction: CGM is an evidence-based intervention to improve glycemic control in persons with T1D and T2D using insulin. Use of CGM in persons with T2D not using insulin is not well studied.
Areas Covered: Existing clinical evidence for the use of CGM in persons with T2D is reviewed with a focus on persons with T2D not using insulin.
Selected Issues in Sport-Related Concussion (SRC | Mild Traumatic Brain Injury) for the Team Physician: A Consensus Statement is title 22 in a series of annual consensus articles written for the practicing team physician. This document provides an overview of select medical issues important to team physicians who are responsible for athletes with sports-related concussion (SRC). This statement was developed by the Team Physician Consensus Conference (TPCC), an annual project-based alliance of six major professional associations.

Replication in murine tumor lines was significantly diminished relative to human tumor cells. Nonetheless, intratumoral injection of NDVmuGM-CSF conferred antitumor effects in three syngeneic models ; with efficacy further augmented by concomitant treatment with anti-PD-1/PD-L1 or T-cell agonists.
