Background Aims: The need for large-scale production of mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC)-based cellular therapeutics continues to grow around the globe. Manual cell expansion processes can be highly variable between operators, require significant hands-on time from skilled staff and, because of the large number of open manipulation steps required to produce cells in dose-relevant quantities, be prone to greater risk of contamination relative to automated processes. All of these can increase overall production costs and risks to the patient.

Processes and outcomes from a clinical genetics e-consultation service managed by a primary care physician champion.

Purpose: Timely access to clinical genetics consultations remains a barrier to timely genomic medicine services, which new service delivery models might help address.

Methods: We implemented a genetics electronic consultation (eConsult) service staffed by a primary care physician (PCP) champion, supervised by genetics specialists. Chart reviews from July 2018 to January 2022 examined categories of questions received, e-consultant's recommendations, and outcomes of any conventional genetics referrals.

Identifying the factors influencing the development of bilateral investment treaties with health safeguards: a Machine Learning-based link prediction approach.

A network analysis approach, complemented by machine learning (ML) techniques, is applied to analyse the factors influencing Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs) at the country level. Using the Electronic Database of Investment Treaties, BITs with health safeguards from 167 countries were charted, resulting in 534 connections with countries as nodes and their BITs as edges. Network analysis found that, on average, a country established BITs with six other nations.

The gender distribution of authors in the health sciences literature has been well documented. We explored whether this distribution persists among library course reserves for a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, as course reserves are veterinary faculty members' own teaching materials. Such a bibliometric analysis of course reserves provides a novel method of examining curricular materials.

Investigation of Veterinary Student and Faculty Perspectives of Factors Affecting In-Person Lecture Attendance.

A proposal was submitted to our institution's curriculum committee to discontinue lecture livestreaming to increase attendance, and we performed a study to investigate factors affecting lecture attendance. In January 2022, the faculty and students were surveyed to explore their perspectives on the impact that student attendance has on both the student and faculty lecture experience. We included a subset of common questions to allow for comparison.

Facilitators and barriers to monitoring and evaluation at syringe service programs.

Background: Syringe services programs (SSPs) provide harm reduction supplies and services to people who use drugs and are often required by funders or partners to collect data from program participants. SSPs can use these data during monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to inform programmatic decision making, however little is known about facilitators and barriers to collecting and using data at SSPs.

Methods: Using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), we conducted 12 key informant interviews with SSP staff to describe the overall landscape of data systems at SSPs, understand facilitators and barriers to data collection and use at SSPs, and generate recommendations for best practices for data collection at SSPs.

Our study investigates RNH1 dynamics in sepsis, its links to mortality and organ dysfunction, and the interplay with RNase 1 and RNase 5.

Objective: Single-level selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR), typically indicated for ambulatory patients, is a controversial topic for severe spastic cerebral palsy (CP) with Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) level IV or V. The objective of this case series and systematic literature review was to outline the indication and outcome of palliative SDR for nonambulatory patients with CP and GMFCS level IV and V, focusing on improvement of spasticity and of patient and caregiver reported quality of life assessment.

Methods: A retrospective case series of patients with CP and GMFCS level IV or V who underwent single-level SDR at the authors' institution is presented.

Snakes in the family Elapidae largely produce venoms rich in three-finger toxins (3FTx) that bind to the subunit of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), impeding ion channel activity. These neurotoxins immobilize the prey by disrupting muscle contraction. Coral snakes of the genus Micrurus are specialist predators who produce many 3FTx, making them an interesting system for examining the coevolution of these toxins and their targets in prey animals.
