Monocytes are crucial players in innate immunity. The human cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection has significant impacts on monocyte effector functions and gene expression. CMV, a β-herpesvirus, disrupts key monocyte roles, including phagocytosis, antigen presentation, cytokine production, and migration, impairing their ability to combat pathogens and activate adaptive immune responses.

A clinical decision support (CDS) tool for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) was developed to align health systems with clinical guidelines detailed in the MASH Clinical Care Pathway and improve patients' proactive self-management of their disease. The tool includes a provider-facing web-based application and a mobile application (app) for patients. This protocol outlines a pilot study that will systematically evaluate the implementation of the tool in real-world clinical practice settings.

Background: NASH is considered a contributor to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk; however, its contribution beyond traditional risk factors for CVD, particularly diabetes, is less clearly understood. It is a severely disabling condition affecting patients' work and social lives through prevention of normal speech production. Our understanding of the pathophysiology of LD and available therapeutic options are currently limited.

Youth participatory action research (YPAR) offers opportunities to inform youth vaccine communication at the local and population level. Incidental Bilateral Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS) in Excisional Surgery for Gynecomastia.

Male breast cancer is a rare disease, and it is important to have a high index of suspicion in patients presenting with breast symptoms, such as a breast mass or nipple discharge. Most male patients who are diagnosed with breast cancer present with breast complaints and/or a strong family history of cancer. Here, we will present a 47-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with bilateral ductal carcinoma in situ during a routine gynecomastia surgery after massive weight loss.

Youth Participatory Action Communication Research: A Model for Developing Youth-Driven Health Campaigns.

Youth offer valuable insight on health communication needs and solutions in their communities. We propose youth participatory action communication research (YPACR) as a model for health campaign development that engages youth perspectives in applying systematic theory-informed communication research to addressing youth-identified health priorities. YPACR informed a series of paid high school internship programs in West Philadelphia, in which youth interns identified mental health help-seeking communication as a need among peers.

Among challenges to application of clinical xenotransplantation are unknown risks of transmission of animal microbes to immunosuppressed recipients or the community. Experience in allotransplantation and in preclinical models suggests that viral infections are the greatest concern.

Overcoming barriers to implementation: Improving incidental coronary calcium reporting on non-EKG gated chest CT scans.

Background: Current guidelines recommend the reporting of incidental coronary artery calcification (CAC) on non-electrocardigram-gated computed tomography (CT) scans of the chest. The finding of incidental moderate or severe CAC on non-cardiac non-contrast chest CT correlates with a CAC score ≥ 100 Agatston units, a guideline-based indication for a clinician-patient discussion regarding the initiation of statin therapy. In contemporary practice, whether the presence and severity of incidental CAC are routinely reported on such CT scans of the chest is unknown.

Alternative Lymphatic Drainage Pathways in the Trunk Following Oncologic Therapy.

Background: Anatomic and functional descriptions of trunk and breast lymphedema following breast cancer treatment are emerging as indicators of lymphatic dysfunction. Indocyanine green-lymphangiography has been instrumental in characterizing this dysfunction in the extremity and can be applied to other regions. Previous work has established a validated Pittsburgh Trunk Lymphedema Staging System to characterize such affected areas.
