Background: Posterior reversible encephalopathy (PRES) is a rare syndrome characterized by headache, confusion, seizures, visual changes and white matter edema at radiological imaging. Its pathophysiology is not clarified and different causes, including uncontrolled hypertension, eclampsia, chemotherapy and hypomagnesemia have been suggested.

Case Report: A woman affected by stage IV breast cancer with lower extremity deep vein thrombosis treated with low-molecular-weight-heparin, currently in therapy with Palbociclib/Fulvestrant (antiCDK4 and 6/estrogen receptor antagonist) but previously treated with several other chemotherapy lines (including VEGF inhibitor bevacizumab), was admitted to our Internal Medicine department because of ascites and abdominal pain.

Gallstone ileus is a complication of cholelithiasis which is due to gallstone migration through a fistula between the gallbladder and the gastrointestinal tract followed by intraluminal impaction. This uncommon form of mechanical bowel obstruction occurs in <1% of patients with cholelithiasis. Gallstone ileus due to cholecystocolonic fistula is rare, and therefore appropriate surgical treatment is still a matter of debate.

Objectives: Flexible fiberoptic endoscopes have made pediatric laryngeal examinations an everyday practice, even though fiberoptic-flexible laryngoscopy (FFL) is not always well tolerated in young children because of limited cooperation. Laryngeal ultrasonography (LUS) has been applied to normal and pathological findings in infants and children, allowing the assessment of subglottic hemangiomas, laryngeal stenosis and paralysis. No previous study assessed benign vocal folds lesions by LUS in children.

A new C18 reversed-phase column and UV HPLC method for the detection of mitotane, its principal metabolites, dichlorodiphenylacetate and dichlrodiphenylethene, and its precursor DDT is described. In this article mitotane, dichlorodiphenylacetate, and dichlrodiphenylethene concentrations in organs of rats fed on a mitotane diet, and the effects of erythromycin and grapefruit juice as cytochrome P450 common inhibitors are presented. Tissue accumulation of mitotane and dichlrodiphenylethene, the acquired ability to eliminate dichlorodiphenylacetate, and inhibition of beta-hydroxylation by both inhibitors are illustrated here.
