Technique of intraoperative ultrasound-guided excision of impalpable breast lesions.

The introduction of breast screening programs has led to the increased detection of occult breast lesions requiring diagnostic surgical biopsy or breast-conserving surgery for early-stage breast cancer. Excision of impalpable breast lesions can be challenging. Whilst a variety of techniques have now been described including the use of adjuncts such as hook wires, radioactive seeds, magnetic seeds or radiofrequency devices, many of these modalities are expensive and can be logistically problematic.

Severe resistant maternal hypotension following tocolysis with nifedipine.

An 18-year-old woman, gravida 3, para 2, presented at 24 weeks of gestation with preterm premature rupture of membranes. She was started on nifedipine for tocolysis and to facilitate administration of steroids. Two and a half hours later, the patient developed tachycardia and hypotension.

The dysregulation of microRNA (miRNA) expression causes various kinds of diseases. Especially, alterations in miRNA expression levels are frequently observed in human tumor cells and are associated with cancer pathogenesis. Earlier we established Fluorouracil (5-FU)-resistant human colon cancer DLD-1 cells (DLD-1/5FU) from parental 5-FU- sensitive DLD-1 cells.

Moulds of the nasopharynx.

A method of making moulds of the nasopharynx is described. Thirteen moulds are illustrated. A mould constitutes one form of morphologic study of the nasopharynx.
