Objectives: We studied the socio-spatial inequalities of three types of general practitioner (GP) density in the Paris metropolitan area: the density of GPs present (that is, practising) in the census block and of those registering new patients for office visits and, separately, for house calls.

Study Design: An exhaustive simulated patient survey enabled us to determine the number of GPs practising in the Paris metropolitan region accepting new patient registration for continuing care at their office and/or for house calls.

Methods: We measured at the level of a census block three types of GP densities: density of GPs present, density of GPs registering new patients at their office and density of GP registering new patients for house calls.

The antitumor effect of cardiotonic steroids (CTS) has stimulated the search for new methods to evaluate both kinetic and thermodynamic aspects of their binding to Na/K-ATPase (IUBMB Enzyme Nomenclature). We propose a real-time assay based on a chromogenic substrate for phosphatase activity (pNPPase activity), using only two concentrations with an inhibitory progression curve, to obtain the association rate ( ), dissociation rate ( ), and equilibrium ( ) constants of CTS for the structure-kinetics relationship in drug screening. We show that changing conditions (from ATPase to pNPPase activity) resulted in an increase of of the cardenolides digitoxigenin, essentially due to a reduction of In contrast, the of the structurally related bufadienolide bufalin increased much less due to the reduction of its partially compensating the decrease of its When evaluating the kinetics of 15 natural and semisynthetic CTS, we observed that both and correlated with (Spearman test), suggesting that differences in potency depend on variations of both and A rhamnose in C3 of the steroidal nucleus enhanced the inhibitory potency by a reduction of rather than an increase of Raising the temperature did not alter the of digitoxin, generating a ΔH ( ) of -10.

Study Objective: Early prognostic stratification could optimize the management of patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding and reduce unnecessary hospitalizations. The aim of this study was to assess and compare the performance of existing prognostic scores in predicting therapeutic intervention and death.

Methods: A systematic search of the literature identified existing prognostic scores.

An electrocatalytic synthesis of 2-pyrazolines dehydrogenative and defluorinative cross-coupling reactions between (hetero)arylaldehyde-derived ,-dialkylhydrazones and fluoromalonates is disclosed. Salient features of this work include (i) readily available starting materials, (ii) practical reaction conditions, and (ii) a formal oxidative (4 + 1)-cycloaddition triple C-H bond functionalization. Cyclic voltammetry analyses support the electrocatalytic formation of an α-fluoromalonyl radical.

The placement of peripheral venous catheters (PVC) is a frequent procedure in the emergency department (ED), which exposes patients to complications (hematoma, fluid leakage, phlebitis, edema, infection), increases hemolysis of blood samples, is time-consuming and costly. The main aim of this study is to analyze the rate of PVC nonuse in the ED and to identify predictive factors of their nonuse. This prospective single-center observational study was conducted in the ED of the Saint-Antoine Hospital in Paris, France between February and March 2022.
